No doubt, but Stryper is what I think of with the Yellow and Black.  Maybe they stole it.
I think they did from what I read there is some bible verse about stripes something..

That's where the name comes from but the actual use of designs and color scheme of the guitars is what I was refering too.
I really do not know of any other yellow guitars that have same as EVH.

Wow I had managed to forget about the existence of Stryper - count on this board to forever dredge up 80s metal.  Well, have fun with your EVH guitar, I totally don't get the point but that's ok. If I had modded a guitar and put my own weird paintjob on it and became really famous, I would think it very weird that people were out there trying to copy my exact thing.

Cool project, but I have to laugh at the Musicians Friend description of the EVH pickup. "wound to ooriginal specs". LOL. If anyone knows anything about the original van halen Frankie its thats noone ( maybe not even EVH) knows what the eff was really in that guitar.
Now th4e later one you are building, and you may know this, may be the Kramer pickup and actually correct as far as thhe pickup that was in his later black and yellow.
I just wanted to point ut that people have devoted entirere years and thread upon thread on the internet on conjectute about the original VH-1  Farnkie pickup. recently there was a breakthogh, and as I nderstand it, the buzz amogst thhe congenscenti is that it was most likely a Mitey mite pickup PAF style pickup or possibly even a Ibanez Super 70. This was determined bby analysis of photographs. Appears Eddy V.halen may have dropped a Super 70 in Frankie.
Now the original black and whote Satrt on VH-1 is te one he recorded much of the vH-1 album with along with a most likely determined to be Senn wood( called japaneseash and is a hard wood I think) Ibanez Exploerer with Ibanez "Super 70 pickups.
I dont know at what point Seymour Duncan wound a pickup fro Eddie van halen, but he did,and that pickup ( the '78) totally nails the Br9own sound  with a Superstrat and a good Hot rod style Marshall sound.
And by the way- the ooriginal VH-1 tour guitar ( not the old 58 VH-1 Studio Strat probably useing seymour Duncan rewound PAF that ios now the '78)-that guitar was a boogie bodies, and I dont know the correaltion exactly, but I know that it was a LynnEllsworth body and that Lynn was or is still affiliated withWarmoth in some form, fashion or manner.
