new here, first Warmoth order on the way

Welcome to the forum. Very Impressive project. Depending on how confident you  are with your own technical skills, my suggestion would be to do the assembly yourself. Nearly all of the required holes will be drilled anyway, and as long as your are patient and thorough, its usually very hard to stuff these things up.

From their you can then take it to your guitar tech to get the setup and intonation done.    :laughing7:

Welcome to the forum, starting aThread about a new project is one great way to get people's attention here.

We all love drooling over the wood choices and the variances from the traditional designs, but then again we also drool over traditional design replicas too. Hell we just drool at anyone who starts a project up! :help:

Please post pix of any significant stage of the project's progress..we luv that sorta stuff here. :icon_thumright:

mrpinter, I was going suggest a good tech, but you are so far away I am sure you can find a good tech a lot closer, esp around Hollywood.
Having a guy go over that neck once it is on will make all the difference in the world.

Re a guitar tech - I have a reasonable estimate for assembly, intonation and setup from TrueTone Music in Santa Monica (since I've never built a guitar and want it done right, I'm going to pay an expert to do it for me). Does anyone have any experience with them, or any knowledge of their quality of work? And they tell me they do fretwork as well, if needed. I'm hoping I can get by for less than the $250 neighborhood that's been mentioned.

I got my box of hardware/pickguard etc, and am expecting the body and neck order to be put on UPS any day now. Am getting impatient!

Make sure you contact DangerousR6 for a custom neck plate as well.  Would want to build that nice custom geetar and put a naked plate on it.  :icon_thumright:

And while youre at it, start picking out pieces for your next build.  Prices have been lowered.  Am I steering him the wrong way yet?  Just saying, building these are like eating potato chips, you just cant stop at one.

I'm looking forward to hearing what you think of the Goncalo neck, as that's one on my potential list for my first build.

I love the Goncalo neck on my Strat. So much that I'm a little hesitant to try something different on my next one. But... I also don't want to get stuck in a rut so I'm sure I will try something new.

Is the fretboard also Goncalo, or something else?

It's a pau ferro fingerboard, which I also like a lot.

It's Brown Truck Day!!!

Hardware was a separate order, and arrived last week. Today the body and neck of my 72 Thinline got here. Next step: it gets delivered to True Tone Music in Santa Monica for Mikey to assemble it for me. (I know, I probably could do it myself, but I want it done right. Maybe next time I'll take it on - right now I just want a guitar, ASAP!) Here are some pictures of my early Christmas (the pictures are from my cell phone and are a little blurry - sorry):

Is it possible to get Goncalo in the Warmoth angled neck? It's not in the options on the builder unfortunately. Us people who aren't into Fenders= 2nd class citizens.

Yay! <grin>

You must be very pleased. Opening up Warmoth boxes is always so satisfying. Since you can't see the stuff before you buy it, you have to take a leap of faith and no matter how many assurances you get, you always wonder until the stuff shows up. Then you just smile at the sky.

I can't get a good picture of the body with my cell phone camera - it just sees a blob of black and doesn't focus properly. Use your imagination, it's a glossy black 72 Thinline body.

But i don't want to use my imagination!  I want to use my eyeballs!  :laughing7:
