Hello all. I just ordered a black 72 Thinline body, a Goncalo Alves/GA neck and hardware from the Showcase. I'm building it around a couple of pickups I already have (SD Full Shred neck and SD Screamin' Demon bridge). Here is a Photoshop mockup I did from images lifted from the website:

I'm looking forward to getting it put together. What do y'all think about the combination?

Cheers, Mike

I think it looks like a great project, and I'm stoked to see it completed.

Wow man that looks like a phenomenal project!  I'm pumped to see how it comes together.  Welcome to the board!    :rock-on:

Thanks for the kind words everyone. This being my first Warmoth  project, I can't wait to see the final build quality and playability of the guitar. But what I'm maybe most curious about is how my pickups will sound in it. Right now they're in an old cheap V knockoff that I tried to make into a nice guitar. It never worked - I put new hardware and pickups in it, but the neck has a reverse bow and the truss rod is all out of adjustment. To keep the strings from buzzing at the 12th fret I have it strung with 14-55 jazz bridge cables - err guitar strings, which actually works, but hardly ideal. But it's a big chunk of mahogany and the pickups sound great in it. The Full Shred neck has a lot of fundamental, and the Screamin' Demon bridge is airy sounding with lots of sparkly overtones. They actually work pretty well together. I just don't know how much of what I like will be retained in this Warmoth. Has anyone ever had a combination like this?

That guitar is gonna look great!  :icon_thumright:

What kind of hardware are you thinking of putting on it?  I'm not usually a fan of gold color hardware, but it could look very nice with that combination.

Yeeeaaaaaahhhhhhh!
Thats a good looking guitar.  I like black and tortoiseshell.

Welcome along  :icon_thumright:

that is going look sweet all blacked out,
you should get a lot better play ability out of the Warmoth, of course neck setup is part of that
ok 2 questions
Are you going finish the head stocl black to match the body?
what bridge is it going have?

1. The headstock will be left natural
2. It's getting the vintage Strat flat mount bridge
As for playability, I have big expectations - can't wait to get it finished.

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. I'm planning to pay a guitar tech/luthier to put this together for me. I know I could probably do it and have some fun, but I want to make sure it gets done right the first time. I've gotten two separate cost estimates for $150 each, so that seems to be the going rate, around Los Angeles anyway. Question: should this price include intonation and final setup, or should I budget a bit more for that? Just FYI, I'll probably be putting Thomastik-Infeld Power Brights 10's on it (they're the only strings I use on all my guitars - they're incredible, let me convert you if you haven't tried them).

$150 *could* cover a very, very basic setup. Personally, I think I'll be paying $250+ for my setup, which includes fret levelling, dressing the ends, itonation, nut work, truss rod, etc....

I plan on paying close to 250 for my final setup, complete fret job and the set the action and the pickups, it could be more.
150 to assemble sounds like a good idea if you have doubts.  Remember, you are basically getting a custom guitar, the reason you are doing this is so you get the woods, finish , hardware, tuners, electronics you want, and good quality of those, now if you wanted a cheap guitar, buy one off the self.
Once that thing is assembled, bring it to a good shop to have a good tech set it up, there are a few in the SoCal Area, where do you live?
