New Foo album, anyone?

Incidentally, for all you Poo Fighter fans out there, they had an appearance on The Daily Show last night. Don't know why. They only have musical guests a couple times a year, if that. It's just not that kind of show, and there's nothing outstanding or controversial about the band.

That was a good performance.  Anyone else checking out the gear?  I saw a Fender tweed, 2 fender 2x12s, a Vox AC15 or 30, and a 6505+
Looks like Smear was rocking baritone with no headstock decals.  I think all his fenders were gifts from Kurt Cobain.

nfi what the bassist was using 'cause that world is foreign to me.

Pat Smear has been touring with the band for a couple of years now. Also, I think it's a great addition. Makes riffs sound MUCH bigger if you can actually keep it together. If you're sloppy though, you sound like idiots. I don't think that will be a problem with this group, though...

Just caught this Foo moment at the Wembley Stadium on the DVR yesterday.  The fun doesn't start until 3:00, I wish I could get that close to Jimmy Page, and John Paul Jones.  I bet that was a dream come true for the guys, I know it would be for me.  The drummer can sing, and the singer can still drum.

Anyone else surprised by how on Dave's vocals were on the Daily Show? He's amazing but singing live has never been his thing.  :dontknow: Maybe Pat keeps him from getting stressed out playing guitar while he tries to sing.

You know you're it when you can get Zep onstage playing with you. If that isn't the coolest moment in their lives (as musicians), I don't know what is...

I was honestly suprised at how well Hawkins can actually sing. If he ever felt the urge to do a solo album, I think it would actually be listenable. I give Grohl a LOT of credit for letting his influences share some of what he has accomplished. Someone mentioned Bob Mould, but there's also Jimmy and Jonesy (who really can't do an insane amount together until Robert Plant quits singing folk music with Allison Krauss), plus Lemmy, of all people. This one is big to me, considering that Dave was 1/3 of the band that killed hair and stole the light away from metal.

I agree, Hawkins did a heck of a job singing that song. He is a great singer in general, and one awesome drummer.  :icon_thumright:

They didn't use any software, it was all manual tape splicing.  I think it turned out fantastic!
It was taped at Dave's house, then after the cd's were made they cut up the masters and put pieces of the masters in with the cd's... :party07:

Taylor's been doing this for a little while, they came and toured the UK while ago, playing some of the slightly smaller circuit venues.  My friend Tash works at a place called The Brook in Southampton where they played, and she got to meet Taylor.  He's was a really nice guy apparently.  Good singist too!
