New Foo album, anyone?

Whats with Pat Smear wearing black gloves? He is doing this in both their Monkey "Wrench" and "Rope" video clips.

I know that VH1 Classic is making them a big deal tonight. The concert from England is on tonight, as well as a documentary.

This song is a great example of how they just seem to keep getting better.

After watching the documentary that VH1 Classic had on the band, I was suprised to hear that they recorded the entire album on tape, which really forces you to be on the mark. You can really tell that there's an intangable on the album when you listen to cuts on it, and I feel that it comes from using tape to record on. I know that this has been done before within the past couple of years, notably on the White Stripes "White Blood Cells" album, as well as a great, but underrated album from Canada, April Wine's "Roughly Speaking."  I'm a computer guy by trade, but I have to admit that I hope the analog trend keeps going.

In addition, I think Dave Grohl really has the best chance from this generation who really has a chance of getting into the R&R HOF twice, both for Nirvana and for the Foo Fighters.

I'm not favorably impressed. If that video is an example of their best work yet, I'm afraid to hear/see what else they've done.

As far as recording on tape, it kind of implies everything is one take, and I didn't see the documentary, but you can do overdubs with tape.  You can even record everything digitally then record it to tape afterwards.

I looked into that out of curiosity, and as Dave was showing his garage studio he stated that solid takes were important, but they had to manually splice tape here and there.

They didn't use any software, it was all manual tape splicing.  I think it turned out fantastic!

I kinda like it, but I've always liked the Foo... But I think they can do without Smear....He's pretty useless IMO...

Didn't even realize he was back until I saw the video.  What ever he was doing since his last stint with the Foo's, he obviously wasn't starving.

...and it's in my iTunes safe and sound. The world is a better place.  :occasion14:

How 'bout Bob Mould's appearance? Sounds great. Makes me wanna figure out who he is and why I don't know about him. Doesn't make me like Lemmy any better though.

Bob Mould?  He was one of the two voices for Husker Du, the Head honcho in Sugar, and has put out quite a bit of solo stuff.  The Guy has put out an amazing amount of interesting stuff.  He wrote the Daily Show's theme song, as well as quite a bit of other stuff for TV and movies.  I always loved the song Egoverride.  Killer guitar sound.  Always with the layered vocals.
