NDPD! (Drill Press)

So I had this little bitty bench drill press that belonged to dad. It's nothing to write home about. The swing has bit more more than the vertical workpiece height and quill travel have. After watching Rex Krueger's woodworking videos I really got to thinking that a floor drill press is really the next tool I need. He says - if you're starting from scratch, buy good basic hand tools (but cheap) and your very first power tool should be a drill press.

Anyway - I'm cruising the local CL and find a 17" model with 6.5" of quill travel for cheap. I sent the guy a barrage of emails over a week and never heard anything. Finally he says 'ok, the other two guys fell through - if you want it, it's yours."  Except I was out of town. Long story short - it worked out, and we got 300 lbs of drill press loaded into the wife's SUV. Took the head off to get it in, which had me worried. I wasn't sure I could get the head back on by myself, but I did.

Looking forward to some forstener hogging once I get the kiddo's bunk bed completed.

Well yeah... I'm plotting and scheming back to a CNC mill in the garage that at this loint looks like it will be around retirement.
