My First Build - VIP

Warmoth had a body with a GA top very similar to yours a few months back, but not as spalted.
I like spalted.  :icon_thumright:

@Updown -- I just noticed your PS about the table top and had to go back to look at the pics to see what you were referring to. :icon_scratch: Then it dawned on me you were talking about my work bench top. :laughing7:
It's just some old marine plywood I had laying around when I made the my workbench, but I guess parts of it did finish up quite well. You should see the knotted pine heartwood 2x4 that serves as the front support under it! :toothy12:  I just love beautiful wood grain of anykind!

By popular request...  More pics with the neck on.

Couldn't resist going with Rosewood knobs. I like them so well I may even go with some Rosewood pickup mounts as well :laughing7:
Trying PlantWaves for the first time.
The neck plate is one I picked up at a discount. I'm sure its not quite as nice as one of Ranger Danger's, but it'll do.
Now if BK will just ship my pups! :sad1:

I like the gold, too. Some people have easy trouble with it, though, so I can see where they might be reluctant to use it. Luckily, I'm not one of them. But, even if you don't have alien blood/sweat/tears, the stuff is plated on there so thin you can just wear it off without much effort.

Makes me wonder what StewMac is thinking charging twice as much for gold plated parts. There isn't enough gold in total on a set of tuners to gag a fruit fly, let alone cost anything worth charging for. I know the stuff expensive, but nobody's selling it by the atom yet. Other than StewMac, I mean.

Wow that looks awesome. I'm planning my first build (Korina/Wenge/Pau Ferro) and I hope I can get as good looking grain as that on my Korina!  :kewlpics:

I love that body & neck combo. My eyes might be burning from the hardware, but the knobs & switch tips are cool.

Finally, my pickups arrived. :icon_scratch: I went with BK Mules mounted with Rosewood rings. All in all, I think it turned out quite nice. It sounds even better than I hoped for and plays like a dream! It feels better to me than any dual HB type I've ever played! Needless to say, I'm thrilled! :guitarplayer2:
Let me know what you think.

'Tis a beautiful thing you have built, Mr. Trbl! I wouldn't change a thing. I'll bet it sounds/plays like a dream.

Gorgeous indeed  :blob7:

Yep the BKP's are nice, aren't they !!
Yep that Gold hardware looks great & that Neck is just so darn good looking  :o
Nice touch, with the Knobs, Hum plates & switch tip.
Betcha that thing Rocks  :guitarplayer2:

Great work  :icon_thumright: Very classy ....
:kewlpics:

the body is ... lysergic  :icon_thumright:
I am not fond wenge.... but I've never tested it so I don't know if it's for me or not  :dontknow:.
Among the raw necks I've only tried the pauferro and...it's simply the best (but how much it costs though...)

Bruno, the wenge is delightful.  It looks a lot rougher than it actually feels - it's very slick.  Some day when you have extra cash, it would be a worthwhile experiment.

Thanks for the nice comments everyone!
@Bruno - Pau Ferro is my favorite neck wood also (so far, anyway!), but Wenge is very nice too! I totally agree with Bagman67's comments. It looks like it might feel a bit rough, but it actually feels almost like it's Teflon coated. And, the more I play it, the better I like it!! I highly recommend Wenge necks!
