Really nicely. I attribute much of this to Warmoths precision.
I have a very light touch already, so adjusting to the scallops wasn’t a big deal. Even with 8s, I don’t have an issue pushing notes out of tune, chords are just fine, and 12” radius and 24.75” scale is very much “home” for me being a Gibson/Epi guy.
It is a little odd not feeling the fretboard underneath, but if you’ve played 6000 frets before I’d say scalloping doesn’t feel far off. The biggest change is how much meat you can hook around the string for bends and vibrato, especially that dramatic Yngwie style vibrato. Part of that might be the 8s - I don’t usually play such light strings although this and the Hendrixtele both got strung with them… maybe I am turning a page?
Sound wise - the Lollar Birds are great. Quiet, tons of brightness and articulation, more single coil in character than PAF. If you’ve played a Firebird, you know what to expect, and they are very similar to the Kleins in my own Firebird. I’ll get some recordings up later this week so you can judge for yourself.
