Modern Swamp Ash Strat

Hello all !

After hours and hours of playing this beauty I found the pickups too strong on fundamental note and not being the best combo that I could give her...

And finally I put a pair of DiMarzio PAF 36th anniversary neck and bridge (same pickups on my korina strat) switching like this :

Neck series
Neck parallel
Inside coil parallel
Bridge parallel
Bridge series

Now she's as versatile as before, but more harmonically rich !!!

For eyes pleasure a little shot of her now !!!

Very nice. The color looks great with that pickguard.

My original plan was to use a Schaller 2000 on my Strat build, but couldn't find one in the US. Congratulations on your new axe!

Lovely guitar!

Chopper is a great pickup for what you want.

Nice review on the Chopper. I've actually got one of those waiting to go into my next Strat and I was curious what I'd get out of it. Sounds like it's just what I was looking for. Humbucker power and single coil spank.

Nice guitar BTW. I really like the trans blue with the pearloid pickguard. Classy all the way around.

Hi Mike !

Well I have to say the "Choppers" are not the best combo with ebony board because ebony have tendency to emphasis the fundamental note (mainly on the attack) and  the DiMarzio rails pickup seems to emphases too... so I'm little disappointed particularly on the neck position. It works better with a more traditional maple neck rosewood board.

I have much better result now with a 36th Anniversary set ; not more powerful than the "Chopper" but harmonically richer. With this set I recognize all the good sound has this guitar unplugged.

So for answer you, I will project on few month to build a more traditional hardtail strat to complete my 2 main HH strats. I already have a Warmoth Pro boatneck maple/rosewood combo to fit her and the body will certainly be swamp ash with a Mary Kaye finish... I will see if I put the "Chopper/Cruiser" pickguard or more traditional single coil...
