Hey, Doc, you make me a floyd iceman, and I'll take it  :laughing7:

White Korina, trans yellow, HSH with some fancy switching, 59 contour rosewood neck.

You pay for it, and I'll make it.  :icon_jokercolor:

The only problem is the 59 contour neck.  Why have a Floyd and a that kind of a neck...think Standard Thin or Wizard.  Forget the fancy switching, as you've got a lot of tonal varieties in the HSH config.   I like the thought of a white korina with a trans yellow, however.

See Doug, this is what we are up against.   :icon_biggrin:

Well, I'm finding my standard thin a bit too... thin. Fancy switching as in coil taps, mostly. And I like the sound of trans yellow on white korina too.

Hey, I'm not against you guys. If a guitar looks good, it looks good. It doesn't need to be 50 years old in design, even though those are my favorites.

Its all good, Max.  Its just a Floyded Iceman is not a Clapton-style guitar.  It would be built for a completely different style of playing, and a completely different tone.  Doug would understand, and I'm sure you do, too.  Believe it or not, you don't need coil taps here and there with an HSH config.  There are so many tones available already.  For me, if I was to have something like that, there would be too many tones.  I wouldn't be able to remember what sounded like what.  Its like the BC Rich Bich that has so many switches, knobs, and dials that I'd forget what each one sounded like unless it was my only guitar.  JMHO.

That's gonna make a killer axe, Doug.  Remember your audience here on this board:  Strats, Teles and all their permutations, no Floyds...etc.   :laughing7:
I know, not to many open minded people....Willing to venture outside their comfort zone... :icon_biggrin:

Hey, I said I like it!  I'd even play one but I'd put a TOM on it, not a Floyd...

I know you did, TOM's are ok but I like my Floyds...... :icon_biggrin:

I hate to butt in and point this out, but in my days of lurking here, I have read much of what is contained within this forum, and you saying that there are many here who are afraid to venture outside their comfort zone seems a tad hypocritical.  Putting a floyd on everything in sight is not exactly revolutionary thinking.  With all due respect......

I like the out of the ordinary projects, however, and while this is "not my bag", I like that you are doing something different.  Buen trabajo!

Touche.....However, I wasn't speaking of hardware, just body styles. I like the traditional stuff, but I like the weird and unusual better. And for the most part, people that build tele's make them look like tele's, or strat's look like strat's. So I put Floyds on tele's, even the original XL5 that this was modeled after never had a Floyd....So as it may seem hypocritical at the same time it's outside the box...

gracias..... :icon_biggrin:

very cool design!  :headbang:

is it just me or is that a very wide neck / neck pocket? i might have missed reading something about that already, sorry if so!

Thanx  man, nope it's a standard pocket. Already double checked with one of my other necks.

It still rocks, and it still reminds me of a BC Rich design...didn't they all have TOMs?  :laughing7:

Yip, for the most part back then the BC's were all TOM's...

Krank n steins neck finally arrived today........ :blob7:

The canary is just frigggggggggin' AWESOME, and I love the Wizard contour.....Way better than the standard thin. To me anyway, very close to a Jackson... :headbang1:

that might be the coolest fretboard i've ever seen!  :headbang1: makes me think of a pao ferro neck i wanted to buy, but lost to a quicker warmoth shopper  :-\

what is the fretboard exactly?

EDIT: and i forgot to ask, is canary heavy? i have a VIP on order, but i'm afraid with the purpleheart neck i have coming (a notoriously heavy wood) that it's going to be neck heavy. might look for a canary or mahogany neck instead

Max is correct, it's ziricote from the "unique choice" section. And the canary to me isn't heavy at all, I compared it side by side with my wenge neck and the canary is waaaaaaaaaaaay lighter. But  the canary does have the wizard contour....

Some more neck shots.....I just can't explain how stoked I am about this neck, it just blows me away.... :icon_biggrin:

Way Coooooooooolllllll axe ya got goin' on there Dangerous! :headbang1: :party07: :headbang1:
The Canary neck is smokin'.  Warmoth has really been crankin' out some nice Canary necks lately.
The Canary, Zirciote, Walnut combo blend very well.  How are you going to finish that body???
Can't wait to see the monster finished.  More pics soon please!
Krank-n-Stein on with your bad self  :occasion14:

Thanks Bart, it is going to be a beast indeed. I'm thinking either doing the body with Watco's danish oil, or maybe just a Deft satin nitro, but I also like some of Markoooo's Tru-oil finishes. So I may lean that way, I got some test pieces I'm going to try all 3 maybe... :dontknow:

I think once I've got a finish on the walnut, and it "comes to life" it will fit very nicely with the canary....
