Congratulations - take your time with the Tru oil and once you have built up enough do not be in any hurry to assemble it. Better to walk away from it for about a month or more before assembly.

(I hope your roasted maple neck does not arrive with a clear coat on it that you thought you had not ordered )

I did 10-11 thin coats like Stratomania suggested. As it builds up get get a nice gloss, sanding every few coats as needed.

It depends on the result you are trying to achieve and on how they are applied. There are too many variables to say a particular number. You will tend to know when you are done.
