Hey guys.  I haven't been around much for the past few months because I've been really busy... coming up with the cash for a Taylor 412 (and moving, getting more kittens, getting ready for summer school, etc).  It should arrive in 2-4 weeks.

Now, I know it's not a Warmoth.  And it's an acoustic.  And no, I'm not building anything.  But I'm still very excited about it because I have wanted one of these things for almost 10 years now.  It's about time to finally attend to that GAS.

But I can assure everyone that the next big purchase will be a Warmoth something or other, probably a short scale bass.  I'm thinking that might happen next year sometime.

Congratulations man! I love the feel of Taylor acoustics. Great guitars in my opinion, definitely have a different sound than a Martin. Way cool.

It's funny, I just realized that this will be my most expensive guitar, but easily my least fancy looking one.

I'm holding out for an acoustic Warmoth  :icon_biggrin: If they build it, they will come :toothy12:

Here's the one I ordered:

Curious. Just how many kittens do you have?

We had one.  He got big and crazy, so we got two more to keep him busy so he would stop trying to beat up our legs.  It worked, but now we have 1 big kitten and 2 little kittens.

Congratulations! Those are very nice guitars. You should be very happy with it.

You're going to love it, great choice.

I've been the proud owner of a Taylor 615 all maple jumbo since 1988.  I've loved seeing and hearing how the guitar has matured over the years.  They sound and look even better with age.

Cool story... My guitar has the old style set neck.  After 20 years it needed a neck reset and to have the bridge reglued.  I brought it to a Taylor dealer, and even though I didn't have any paperwork from when I bought the guitar, they were able to get the work done under warranty.  (The dealer where I originally bought the guitar has been out of business since about 1990.)  It only cost me the actual cost to ship it to the authorized luthier.  Pretty impressive customer service if you ask me.

Wow, that's awesome!  One of the things I love about Taylor Guitars is hearing stories like that.

I've been to the factory in El Cajon, and there is such a great vibe there.  I met Bob Taylor at NAMM a few years ago, and he seemed like a really nice guy, and the whole factory tour that I did later had that same positive energy about it.  Everyone seemed to love what they were doing.  The other thing that was kind of funny was that I got a Taylor catalog in the mail a few months later, and I recognized a lot of the people photographed in it with the guitars and the Taylor shirts and whatnot because they were people I saw working on the guitars at the factory.  It's a pretty big brand these days, but it still has that small business feel to it, and I like that a lot.

That's a nice looking Jumbo you've got there.

I've gas'd for a T5, but I'd have to play one b4 I thru down the cash, they're rather pricey... :o

I really liked the T5s that I've played, especially the koa.  They sound awesome.  If they weren't $3K, I would have one by now.  I think I played a T3 too, but I liked the T5s better because they're really different, kind of a weird acoustic/solidbody hybrid.  The T3 is a little more like a traditional hollow electric.

Taylors are bolt necks. It could happen. But I wouldn't hold my breath.

They look like they are pretty sweet, but none of the GC's around here have any... :dontknow:

I've never been to a GC that didn't have a lot of Taylors and at least one T5 or T3, but I'm sure we have way more Taylors in these parts than the rest of the country because the factory is only 2 hours away.

They usually have plenty of regular taylor acoustics, just not the T5's... :dontknow:
