Just ordered a Taylor UPDATE WITH PICS on pg 6!

Good values for certain, but I don't know if I'd lump em in with Behringer and Agile. Their cheapest jumbo is $700 street price. I'd consider that pretty solidly mid-line.

Right, if you're just going by price. But, a Takamine at that price is a higher-end instrument. At least, that's how I remember them. Things may have changed.

My next acoustic purchase will probably be a 12 string.  I don't want to spend a whole lot on it (hopefully under $700-$800).  Maybe I'll see if I can find a Takamine to look at.

Mmm... Carvin...

Lotta guitar for the money, there. I came damn close to buying one just before my Taylor fell in my lap.

Here is my Taylor 955 12 string. You can see I should not own a guitar with out a pickguard but the scratches give it some character.  My wife arranged for me to get it for my 40th birthday but I had to give a lot of guitar lessons to pay for it.  :laughing7:

I only had the guitar for a week and I smacked it against a door knob walking onto a stage and left a big ol gouge in the face so after that I figured I might as well not baby it so it gets smacked pretty hard when I play it which is not often enough.

Nice fiddle! Never mind the blems, we all have them. At least you know where yours came/come from. As long as it sounds/plays well, you're golden.

My niece, who's a helluva player in her own right, is constantly blaming her guitar's finish for being smacked up. "I swear I never hit or bumped anything! Thing's just a piece a junk!" Yeah, right. It's a heavy Les Paul, she's a lightweight chick. She plays out 3 to 5 nights a week, and has been for years. It would seem she doesn't believe in stage gremlins, but I know her tricks. She's just angling for a new guitar <grin>

That's a pretty sweet looking 12 string.

There used to be a Carvin store in LA I believe.  Perhaps I should check it out.

It is still there.  Phone ahead to see if they have one in stock.

Hey guys.  I haven't been around much for the past few months because I've been really busy... coming up with the cash for a Taylor 412 (and moving, getting more kittens, getting ready for summer school, etc).  It should arrive in 2-4 weeks.

Now, I know it's not a Warmoth.  And it's an acoustic.  And no, I'm not building anything.  But I'm still very excited about it because I have wanted one of these things for almost 10 years now.  It's about time to finally attend to that GAS.

But I can assure everyone that the next big purchase will be a Warmoth something or other, probably a short scale bass.  I'm thinking that might happen next year sometime.

Awesome guitars, and since you're a Taylor fan, I'll let you know Bob Taylor had just completed a book called "Guitar Lessons."  It's a nice inside look into the life of Bob Taylor and it documents all their trials and tribulations, past, present, and future.  It's an excellent read, and I highly recommend it.  On top of that, it's a pretty inspirational book.

Okay, it's been 11 weeks now since I ordered.  I think it's time to pay my shop a visit to see if I can get the owner to call up the factory and figure out what is taking so long.

Your restraint is uncommon.  Go raise some hell.

My guy at the shop says that he has been on the phone with the factory once a week for the last month calling about it, and that they say they're getting close, probably shipping in the next week or two.  The shop owner says someone else ordered one 3 weeks before me and it still isn't there either.  The factory is very very busy right now, not enough people or equipment to fill the overwhelming demand for Taylors this year.

The shop guy says he'll call me next week when he thinks he'll have a shipping date.

Of course I would decide to finally get one when they're crazy busy.
