honestly,  my hands shake too much and thats when i can find the right glasses,  i have made a wiring harness with one of the 1st kits,  but those kit guitars have cheap wiring wires and parts,  so i had it replaced with prewired harnesses and fished thru the f holes by a pro,  wiring is the one part i definitely have to hire out.

also another thing.  the price on that stratone was $120 and looks like it needs even fancier wiring. dought that i will end up in that direction,  but someone makes it...

i am still in the mind flood for 2 or 3 months before making a final decision and ordering pickups next year,  still swimming between all the possibilities but may end up with sd antiquities,  yesterday was looking at the charlie christian p90... https://www.mojopickups.co.uk/product/p90-soapbar-charliechristian/  so many choices and only enough money to finish 1 guitar.

lastly,  the fun of building a guitar for me is the journey,  so im really taking my time and extending the building process/

and lastly edited,  now i am delving into p13... how deep is  this whole ?

thanks for your understanding, similar to the poster who changed his mind, i both dont want to be disappointed, uninformed or 2nd guessing,  plus the funnest part of building a guitar is the process,  once its done its done,  so i always cautiously take both the red and blue.  ccasion14:

That is true apart from even when a build is done it does not have to be. They can always have things swapped out etc. I am not sure who the other poster is being referenced as many posters are changing their mind one way or the other.

I consider P90's & Filtetrons the most versatile pickups, unlike most strat & PAF type HB's they excel in both clean & dirty sound. I haven't played with a P90 I didn't like. I have played with the Suhr set, I have a bridge P90 in my PRS SE and a Lollar neck (-5% wound) in my Warmoth Thinline, I like 'em all. My favorite by far are the stock underwound set in my Gibson ES-330, they sound magical.

If I ever buy another P90 I want to be a Sanford, with guitar stuff I can't try I follow my instinct and I want to try these for years http://www.sanfordmagnetics.com/p90

okay, so im still "shopping" because thats what i do ...  shopping cost a lot less than buying... and i got to thinkin about what tone i really want and as i said early on,  i wish i sounded like julian lage .... oh well,  sigh

anyway,  i looked to see what collins is putting on his signature and its ron ellis pickups ... i looked at several videos and they have nice tone but " they " say he is a one man shop and turnarounds like 2 years and pricey ... anyways again,  i looked on reverb and found 4 listings for ron ellis pickups,  none in p90 format,  and all priced at 999 DOLLARS !!! WOW

Yeah, most of Ron’s work is for his OEM clients like Collings.

Personally, for straight-forward, rock-voiced, late ‘50s P90 tone, it’s hard to beat the basis production model Gibson. It has an aggressiveness that many boutique makers try smooth out.

Finally made up my mind and bought a set of porter a90s, waiting each day for delivery. I ended up going in a big circle and got to where I started. The reason I had it built with p90s was because I originally wanted to have it routed for jazzmasters, then saw frallin a90 pickups. Hope I like them, I have never played a jazzmaster, just thought they would look cool.
