I think I got the wrong size something

So did I buy the wrong size screw or spring to mount these humbuckers?

A lot of times the springs come like that. You can snip them shorter with a pair of wire snippers or flush cutter, etc.

Thanks. Guess I'll experiment a bit.
 
They're springs; they compress. Just put the pickups on.

You also get to play a fun game of find the spring when you inevitably shoot one across the room.

On a slightly more serious note, don't cut them too short or their functionality will suffer.
 
Just compress them. It’s not they are 30lb springs.
A cheat: grab a fork. Slide the fork ( middle space between the tines ) between say coil 4 and 5 (whatever works best for you) and now you have a single handed tool to not only pre-compress the spring, but also can direct it to align. Also no shooting springs to chase down.

This is a fun game. Reminds me of when I was learning my way around a 1911  :toothy12:
