Agreed.  There are all kinds of ways I could imagine humiliating my ex, and each of them brings a smile to my face and a twinkle to my eye.  But when push comes to shove, I'm better than that, even if she's not.

Conventional wisdom has it that you shouldn't tie up with anyone more than 1 standard deviation off your own IQ or you'll be uncomfortable and the relationship won't last any great length of time. Of course, that doesn't account for emotional instabilities that may be complementary (or not), so it's not really a rule, per se. But, it's probably a good indicator.
