HSH routing in SSS config?

I'm looking at a showcase body that is routed HSH. But, I need a replacement for my Strat kit body that I'm finally having to admit is an irremediable POS. I want something SSS to replace it, and since the pups hang from the pickguard anyway, shouldn't this work? Can anybody think of a reason why it wouldn't?

It would have to be a universal route. A single coil pickup will not fit in a standard humbucker route (the pickup is too long).

Just purchase a dedicated SSS body. For the HSH Strat body I ordered last week requesting the S removed I was told it was non negotiable. And that's understandable having to reprogram can gum up the works...nonetheless watch me fill the S wings when the body arrives...once painted it'll look factory.

That’s not quite true. The strat and soloist hsh route that warmoth sells will fit SSS just fine.
That's certainly the way it looks, and when I checked the Soloist configurator it only has "Universal Soloist" routing option with top routing which looks exactly the same as what's on the showcase page but called HSH. Unfortunately there was no description on the Pickup Routs page that clarified what this meant. Digging in more the Soloist pickguard selection allows various options for neck/bridge, but only single coil for middle. They could be a little (or a lot) clearer on the labeling and add a description on the Pickup Routing page for Universal Soloist, but I think I get what's happening.

Now for the hardest part of any body order. Deciding on a color!!!! 😱

Not on Warmoth bodies, but I've put Strat-sized pickups in HH and HSH routs just fine. (Tele pickups won't work without additional routing because the baseplate won't fit.)

Well then Warmoth must now be doing their H-S-H routes the same as Fender (which is universal), which would eliminate the need for the "swimming pool" route. You might want to call them to confirm, or ask Aaron.

I have had a couple so I don’t need to confirm. It’s been this way for at least 20 years.

Universal is still needed for things like middle humbuckers or P90s or other crazy stuff.
