How do you ground your pots to your bridge?

I'm planning on building my first guitar in the near future. I don't really know anything specific about wiring. How do you ground your pots to your bridge...? Do you legitimately just solder a wire on any metal part of the bridge and the back of one of the pots? Either there is no answer or I'm really bad at looking for the answer. Probably the latter. It's gonna be a solid body telecaster style with a modern bridge. Please help.

Depends on the bridge. Strat tremolo, ground gets soldered to the spring claw. Non-trem, post mounted, wire goes in the bottom of the post hole through a drilled pass though, and friction fits when the thimbles are pressed in. Like I said, it all depends.

I'm completely cheaping out because it's my first time trying something like this.

On Teles, the bridge is traditionally grounded via the ground wire from the pickup as the connection is made to the bridge through the mounting screws.

Additionally, I ran a 22awg stranded wire through the pickup wiring chase, spread the filaments out, and used a small piece of shielding to stick it to the underside to the bridge plate near the edge of the pup opening. The adhesive is conductive, and the bridge plate holds it firmly on place when mounted. Gives a very solid ground.  :icon_thumright:

Copper foil instead of spreading out the wires for me.  Of course this is a bass...
