How Bout A Warmoth Raffle Guitar!!

Does this make sense? It is actually very simple but maybe hard to explain or visualize

No, not really, but the assigning of the numbers isn't too important...just the drawing thereof. :)

well if you use multiple dice, then no one can have a number lower than the number of dice. I think we should only use one die - and just roll it until it hits a number in the range.

since we are selling at most 80 tickets I think the 100 sider should be fine. And for example if we did sell 80 tickets then people would be asigned numbers 11-90 and we would just re-roll in the event of 1-10 or 91-100

So, can we start designing this here geetar now?

I propose a nonsense-tele!  That is, exotic wood body, raw exotic wood neck.  all Tele.

groovyness...

And this one is a bit pricey but

OK well it looks as though at the very least the raffle is going to be for a body. My Thoughts to make this fair and random for the winner are:

We start a poll thread with the options:
1. Fender
2. Gibson
3. Other

then vote

Then we start another poll based on the winner of that poll so say it is Fender then the poll would be
Strat
Tele
Other

Then if strat wins everyone submits only strat pics. then of course we vote again.

sound fair?

It does sound fair indeed, but...  :redflag:

Warmoth is all about customizing the guitar to suit you, that's why we're all here. I personally would hate a tele and would probably sell it on ebay.
But that's just me. And it is even worse with a neck. the winner might end up with a neck that doesn't suit him. wrong thickness/shape etc.
And this neck would not be played. We are all different. I personally would prefer something that I want and will enjoy until the end of my days.

However, I will still accept any body or neck with open arms  :guitaristgif:

I like the idea of randomness in the drawing.  It might make you either build something you wouldn't normally, or like you said, you could always sell it off if you really didn't want it.  You'd still make a profit.  :hello2:

You still need to throw in some cash to finish the guitar. It might be easier if it is a build of your choosing.

But like I said, I will stay in the raffle. Hopefully it will be a nice strat  :icon_biggrin:

I also thought about the neck aspect of it we can do one of 3 things and let the masses decide

1. leave it as it is and winner gets what is choosen
2. instead of a body and a neck it would be a body and balance on a GC so the winner could buy his own neck
3. we could buy a fender guitar and a gibson guitar body and have 2 winners.

Thoughts?

It really seems that a gift certificate for the full amount is the way to go. I, for instance, wouldn't mind a Tele body, but hate the standard Tele headstock that would probably accompany such a body. I also love the LP shape, but wouldn't want a Warmoth LP for various reasons. What about bridge rout? Who wants a Floyd? Who hates the TOM/stop tail?  Too many variables.
That's the biggest issue-we love W because we can go fairly individual. Winning a group designed axe may not be so thrilling.

As a lefty, I think we all know where I stand.

I'd probably buy another ticket or two if we went the gift card route.

How about with a we just vote on the entries on the woods, color, hardware, and general design?  The winner chooses neck contour, fret size, scale, and if it is lefty/righty, since that is a matter of fitting to one's hands rather than one's aesthetics.

I think a gift certificate is the best way to do it also. Voting for the items seems fun, until you end up winning stuff that you don't like. Really, if I win a trem routed body, for instance, it will never get completed, because I don't care for trem bridges. Same for standard thin necks.

As I posted in the other thread.  I say if we're going to choose as a group, at least let the winner set some guidelines.  They may not be able to finish an unfinished body, or afford a 3 PU floyd rose, or honestly don't want a V2, or can't play a lefty guitar...

But yeah... gift certificate is always a viable option as well.  Although, it'd be nice, if it was a certificate, that the winner start a thread and at least get loads of input before ordering.

I'm okay either way - honestly, I don't have an interest in a (for instance) LP body, and I would want a big neck (fatback, boatneck, etc.) So the GC idea has a definite appeal. But, there _is_ a certain cool factor to the whole group designed concept.

If I was actually asked to make a choice I would say gift certificate, but if I win, I won't pitch a fit however it works out.  :party07:

I think this might be a good idea. Ask that the winner follow the spirit of the board's consensus, but with their own flair. I'd be down for that.
