That should be just fine if the finish is already fairly smooth. If not I'd start with like 800 or 1000 grit...

Very nice!  But I don't understand why you put "ESP" on he headstock.  I mean, Fender and Gibson are legends, so I can understand wanting to make your axe look like one of those, but ESP??  (No insult, JamesL )
