It freaks me out too much that a guitar can get knocked over. Absolutely stupid guitar stand design IMO.

They're a lot more stable than people give them credit for. I've tried both types and didn't find the upright ones that much less prone to get knocked over. Off to the side or next to the amp it isn't going anywhere that the uprights wouldn't. Good to hear about the Rockstands though. I've been considering a multi-rack or wall hangers. I'd think the hangers would be the least safe, but I can't say I have any home experience with them.
