Hannaugh throwin' the SMACK DOWN!!!  :redflag:

Voted for that one, too. How would you describe that top wood? I know flamed, quilt and spalted.. Not familiar with that one.

I'm totally surprised that Business Time isn't getting more action here, if you'll excuse the expression.  It is quite lovely.

Also, I have to say - I built a Strat. Almost every other guitar in this poll is a lot less common than mine is. I mean, look at the spread here: Line6man's awesome bass with the exotic fretless neck, dmraco's crazy red devil soloist, riverbluff's and R6's sick VW's, Guitlouie's sweet thinline with the humbucker, the standard disgustingly hot LP from Orpheo, T50's wild burned finish star, RobR's hybrid sparkle strat, and Marko's sweet birdseye fat strat. You're ruling face over one impressive grouping of guitars. I think BT is in a field of VERY hot guitars. I love my baby but some of these are just incredible works of functional art. And yours is kicking the tar out of each and every one. You should be way proud.

since we started, we have had one strat, two teles, a soloist, 2 VIP, and an LPS as winners.  there is no penalty for building a simple guitar.  I think all the entrees this month are stunning.  I am a sucker for blue finish and natural binding like your strat...Hannaugh work of art is truely a gift from the guitar gods...GLAD she will be out of future competitions after this month...

and DBU is bound to run our of guitars soon.

I'm out, only have two at the moment. But who knows what the future might hold.  :icon_thumright:

For now... wait till I get the cash for axe #2!  Bwa ha ha!

... okay that's probably a long way off, but I will build something epic.

You forget though, Orpheo and DocNRock have a seemingly never-ending supply of beautful guitars to enter.

it was close between hannaugh and riverbluff for me! but that red VW is absolutely amazing, so my vote goes to riverbluff. one hell of a hard decision this time! i think just about any one of these guitars would win if this had been another month, but this is pretty heavy competition this time!

my strat was completed just 2 days late  :-\  i'll be in next time!

TONAR...how many guitars on this board have you finished???

I have done to many to count for my self and people I know.  For forum members I have done them for, mayfly, T50, buckallred, jay4321, and patinaturner.  The exciting thing for me is that I am getting repeat business from them.  I am currently working on another one for jay4321 and of course the mysterious Mr. May and his next project, which is in the idea oven. We are currently sending samples back and forth across countries to see if we can make his vision work.

BUT the big news is tomorrow I am starting work on a mahogany Tele for the one and only Max.  Yes that’s right;  Max is getting a Tele finished in vintage style Gibson TV White.

By the way I sure wished I had finished Hanna’s Lester.  It is perfect with the Zebras, and I had to vote for that one.

Thanks Tonar!  I hope to own a Tonar-finished guitar one of these days.  Can't wait to see Max's new Tele.

Won't be white if I leave it in the sun.  :icon_biggrin:

What's the TV stand for in TV White?

IIRC, Back in the (1940's? 1950's?) Gibson painted their guitars a yellowish color so that when you filmed a band playing, the guitar would show up a nice white color on black and white televisions.

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can elaborate further.

You are correct. But I think the correct term is TV Yellow. I have a 1957 Les Paul Special (not a reissue) in that color.

It's the one in the middle.

Later, in 1955, Gibson launched the Les Paul TV model[16], which was essentially a Junior with what Gibson called a natural finish. This finish was actually more of a translucent mustard yellow through which the wood grain could be seen, and was not unlike the finish that competitor Fender called butterscotch yellow. The idea behind this TV Yellow was that white guitars would glare too much on early black and white television broadcasts, whereas TV Yellow guitars would not cast a glare.[17]
