Guess what I've just ordered

It could turn out to look a nice golden brown  :icon_thumright:

Edit, just like Double A just posted

Yes, I do believe that is going to complement the amber dye of the quilted top just perfectly.

Roasted flame maple?
Nope. Roasted is wrong and flamed is wrong, but you got maple right :icon_biggrin:

Hey friend, don't close the door on roasted maple forever.
Omg roasted maple. DO THEY MAKE TOPS OUT OF THIS STUFF?

He's not saying there's anything wrong with curly or roasted Maple, just that that's not what it is.

As for whether there'll be any tops made of it, I imagine we'll see one at some point. But, high-grade figured woods are getting pretty dear. Most figured tops these days are laminates because of that, and I'm not sure roasted Maple can be shaved that thin. If we see a curly roasted top, it's probably going to be a solid piece, which means long dollars.

When the roasted maple necks were first announced, we actually did see a couple of roasted curly maple tops on a couple bodies, if memory serves.  There weren't many, but they did come through, however fleetingly.

No, sorry.
I'll give you guys a hint. I've come to believe you should choose a guitar - and neck - based on the size of your hands. And since I'm not a tall guy ...
Since you're not a tall guy, I was going to say a ukulele... :dontknow:

Need a new case for that Mooncaster? How about a double case to save you a trip when you need a second guitar on a long gig?

Expensive I know! But I've had my eye on one for awhile now, and I don't know if its a price drop or just a promotion for Independence Day, but take 15% off with promo code GOFOURTH and they top you off with the TICK bag accessory ($89) for free.

2 days left to "Jump on it" as Sammy Hagar says  :icon_thumright:
Comes out to $280.49 + Free TICK!  :o

I'll be the first to admit that, not only do I not have any experience with MONO cases, I generally don't like the idea of putting a valuable instrument in a padded bag. Can someone clue me in as to why someone should pay close to $300 for a gig bag? Does it provide some level of protection I'm unaware of? Is there a hard shell hidden somewhere inside?  :icon_scratch:

My oldest case, which I bought in '72 with a new Gibson acoustic, looks like it went through a war zone. Now, I'm really careful with my guitars, but as they say, "shite happens!" If I had bought a gig bag instead of a hard case, it would be my JG-0 that was trashed instead of the just the case.

There are some cases out there that, while technically called "gig bags" or "soft shell" cases, are actually highly protective. Sometimes more so than "hard" shells. But, they're expensive. And while they're generally much more heavily padded than hard shells and thereby more protective, they're also less stiff and less crush-resistant. On the plus side, they're also much easier to handle, like a stuffed animal instead of a mannequin, and unusually light weight for as much protection as they provide, which is their real draw. I have some hard shell cases that you could throw down stairs or hand off to airline gorillas and the guitars would survive unscathed, but they're heavy. By the time you put a guitar and a few sundry items in them, it's a 30 pound+ case. Not a back-breaker, but also not something you'd want to schlep very far or up/down stairs too many times.
