Hello,

I have spent months researching new and used warmoth guitars on warmoth.com and ebay.  Fascinating!  I am awaiting my first warmoth, which will be a strat and it should be ready by the end of this month.  I'm a new member of this forum.  I've began playing guitar in 1992, and along the way worked at Guitar Center and Sam Ash.  I believe that as these stores age, it seems that frankenstein guitars, like warmoth and other custom makers become more valuable to the player.  I have witnessed a trend over the years and that is the decrease in quality of store bought guitars, and the prices keep rising.  It's great!  Putting choice parts in the wood is becoming more and more valuable. :party07:

Welcome to the forum.

Where are you from in SoCal?

Tell us about your Warmoth plans. :blob7:

Welcome- you wouldn't be talking about the GC and Sam Ash on Sunset, haha?  I love how they are literally across the street from each other (or were a while back).  I'm in WeHo and always down to jam or support fellow members' shows.

Anyone here ever been to the Guitar center on Artesia Ave. in Lawndale by any chance?

What wonderful parking they have there!
They have this tiny little parking lot behind the building that is ALWAYS full, and there is always trash or something on the asphalt.
Once you've found a place to park, you are occasionally greeted by a homeless man sleeping on the side of the building on your walk into the store.

A couple years ago, their sign fell off the building and smashed a car that was parked on the street.

Hahah!  I go to that one pretty often- parking is glorious.Everytime I go there, I try to park on the street, but am forced into the prison yard.  Oh and congrats on the April nomination!  Sweet axe.

I feel sorry for the people living in the apartments facing the parking lot.
That's got to be tough living there.

Ever been down to the "dungeon"?
I bought a used rack once, and the guy took me downstairs to look at it. :blob7:
It was an amazing experience, though it was also quite horrifying to see how used gear is treated.

On the way down is a little shelf area above the stairs with the biggest pile of cables I have ever seen in my life. I would hate to have to sort through it all and untangle them!

I saw the entrance to a room containing what must have been hundreds of used guitars, so many in fact that they were doing two guitars to a stand to make room for them all.

Then there was the little room with used pro-audio gear. They had all the gear piled up on tables and shelfs like it was junk.

How about the Sam Ash on Artesia in Torrance?
I prefer Sam Ash to GC, and they are a closer drive anyways.

Lol I wasn't gonna comment about that apartment building, but now that you've mentioned it- have you seen that crazy mexican lady?  I swear, everytime I go there, she's sweeping her ass off!

I have been to the dungeon- I was in a crunch for a setup and had the crypt keeper down there butcher my nut, if you'll excuse the phrase.  Sucker slotted the damn thing almost parallel to the fretboard!  Haha, I haven't seen the cable pile.  The way you described it makes me think of Marjory the Trash Heap from Fraggle Rock hahahahahahahha. :toothy12:

I haven't been to the Sam Ash in Torrance.  The one on Sunset smells like stale cigarettes haha.

I don't believe I've seen this "crazy Mexican lady", but then OTOH, I've never paid attention.  :blob7:

I just googled Marjory the Trash Heap, and yeah, it was just like that.
It's about a six foot by four foot area, IIRC. Piled three feet high in some places with nasty old cables.
They must have moved them or trashed them or something.

How about that Gotham Guitars place that is literally right next to Guitar Center in the little plaza?
I think I went in there one time, I can't remember what they were like.

Sorry, Sam Ash on Hawthorne, Guitar Center is on Artesia.

I've seen it, but never stopped in.
