Gibson makes a new product that I like a lot! Stop the presses!

Move up to the 3000 series, and you probably won't need to spend the money to "upgrade" anything. They already have Grover tuners and TOMs, and the pickups/controls are a step up as well. Plus, you go from laminates to solid tops, less or no glue-ups on the body, and ebony 'boards. They're remarkably sweet guitars.

I upgrade everything.  I'm persnickety with (and know exactly) what I want in a particular style guitar.

Hell, I even upgraded my LP Custom when I had it.

I wish they grew salmon trees without bones.

Don't be silly. Salmon trees have to have bones. Otherwise, they'd collapse into an amorphous blob of flesh.

I may look like a boneless salmon tree, but I taste just like chicken

I understand. I think this Agile is the first guitar I've ever owned that I haven't done anything to, but that's only because I decided early on I wasn't going to keep it. I just had to scratch the "own a Les Paul" itch.

I'm glad everyone stopped fighting.

I hope we can all be friends and make out.

UP, I HOPE WE CAN BE FRIENDS AND MAKE UP.

When it comes down to it, if you really love a guitar, it shouldn't matter who makes it or how much it costs. If someone derives $1,000,000 worth of joy from a $3,000 Gibson that needs refretting as soon as it's bought, then by all mean, go for it.

There are guitars out there other than Warmoths & although my last 7 guitars have been 100% Warmoth parts, I have my eye on a Parker Fly Mojo at the moment.

I've done a little research,

First of all, these Gibsons are selling online for $850, not the thousands of dollars people have been saying about a lot of Gibsons.

Unfortunately, according to some threads I researched on the Les Paul forum, these 50s Tribute Studios are casualties from the Nashville floods.  Gibson released this model, people went crazy for it because its such a cool platform at a reasonable price, but the floods came and closed the factory.  They are just getting back to work in the Nashville facility now.  A lucky few have actually gotten their guitars, but most are on backorder waiting to be built.  And that cool goldtop?  Well it sold out of its production run, so those are nearly impossible to get unless you have a low number on a waiting list at a Gibson retailer.  Apparently other colors might still be available, but again, on backorder.

I guess these were intened as a limited production issue.  Since it has generated so much buzz, there is talk of making it a regular production item, but thats just rumor at this point.  It does make sense given Gibson's dire financial situation.

I sitll think that this is the nicest looking LP I have ever seen....
one day, I will let this inspire me for a Warmoth LP!

Collings does make beautiful stuff. Their version of the LP special is going to be a model for a build of mine one day.

+1 to that.  My only fully-functioning electric is a Peavey Predator (strat ripoff) that I could probably replace on Craigslist for $125 bucks, and the sucker is one of the best guitars I've ever owned, for both musical and sentimental reasons.  Like many of you, I am disheartened by the price gouging us poor hacks suffer at the hands of Gibson, FMIC, and others - but rather than carp about it, I vote with my wallet.
