Gibson Endorsing Weird Artists

the man has written several buckets of hits... he may be cheesy, but the man sells his cheese well.

I gotta Respect that.

And from the description... that guitar actually sounds like a lot of fun...

And I say that, even though I tend to hate that company.

EDIT________________________________________________
I don't dig this feature, though...

I like the finish, but at $4000, you could build a guitar that was better value and quality with Warmoth.

Respect needs to be earned. Most of their songs are just the same lame arse 3 chords.

Yeah, that price tag is a major turnoff.
You could buy two Warmoths for that, and they would be better quality anyways.

"A Do-It-All Les Paul from the Most Versatile Artist in Rock"

What? What?! Who says that? No one said that! Gibson, stop trying to put words in my mouth.

"Plus, it features Kroeger’s own idea of adding white star decals along the upper back fretboard"

Aww, Chad's very own idea? How cute. What a good little Chad.

I cannot blame Gibson for trying to increase market share
Remember when Fender put out the Tom Delounge signature Strat, 1 PU, no tone nob and MIM, sould for just over 300 and they sold hundreds of thousands of them. I understand that Tom's Mother (err I mean guitar tech) helped in it's development.
Gibson is just trying to sell guitars, and since they started watering down the line and entered the cheap guitar market, they now are stuck with having to make guitars attracktive to the kids who cannot afford a 2g Paul, so they need to convince them that made in Korea 5 hundred dollar KO is what a pop star is using. Sheesh even PRS has a SE line. Compare those to the regular line, but they sell like hotcakes.
Take a business out of the original ideas, introduce mass production, and watch quality get thrown out the window for new cheap products marketed by professionals who know nothing about the product.
If you think of it a bolt neck Fender is a POS compared to other guitars out there, but we all seem to own one and it is one of our main axes, all the way from beginners with KOs to guys like Clapton who could afford any axe he wanted.

I've got a hunch that unless Dave Grohl needs another artist series model, the next logical step would be for Allison Robinson of The Donnas to get her own artist model. At least she has the talent to deserve her own model.

Allison Robinson from the Donna's rules dude. And she does have some serious guitar playing skills. They do the best cover version of Kiss - Strutter I have ever heard. Isn't she more of an explorer player?

Three things:

1. I went to the Gibson site to look up the details on this guitar.  While there I saw yet another Gibson Slash sig Les Paul.  This new one is *only* $1500, instead of $11k.  I know this has been discussed here before, but with every one of these they pile the irony on as Slash's original lester wasn't even a Gibby, but a replica (albeit a damn nice one).
2. Someone mentioned the Blink 182 guy's Fender sig.  I don't mind an artist version of a guitar if it's priced rationally.  It's a MIM Fender with a MIM price.  The features are different, but it's not priced different.
3. I can't believe this Nickelback thing is retailing for over $4k.  Instead of the Gibson, get this black agile for $200.  Then you can go to the craft store for some star stickers to put on the neck.  You're then left with $3800 for a piezo system.  :)

Explorer, Les Paul, SG, 335--whatever the lady wants, make it to her specs, and she'll play circles around nearly anybody.
