, Oh my....That's the cat's ass.... :icon_thumright:

Couldn't find anything nice in a tele headstock, but LOOK ! A no inlay (Baritone) neck in the showcase.

Since my first Warmoth build turned out so nice - with an all goncalo neck - I'd like to do another one. A look through the Showcase turned up this combination that appeals to me:

or maybe a Strat:

Funny how that works. Nobody seems to be able to do just one and be happy.

I like the Strat much better, but that's just me.

Is Gregg parting out his LP and selling it?  :icon_scratch:

I seriously doubt it, besides the pickups in the pic are not what he has in his.....

For a moment I thought Warmoth had made some truss-less snake-head-tele-era necks.

Upon closer inspection... "One piece Maple" these are not.

Should probably say "Maple/Maple" instead.

Take away the F-hole & weird pick up placement and I would be all over that body!!!
 :headbang1:

It's available - that's a builder body. I don't care for F-holes either, I just stuck it in there because that one was a carved top-hollow (not chambered) sketch. I kind of like the idea of a middle/bridge position for a single pickup guitar though - kind of like the sweet spot position on a lot of single pickup basses. And of course the requisite recessed TOM. I've noticed that not all finishes in the builder show carved top shading well.

That "sweet spot" placement is something ESP have done a few times. Custom orders only of course, and only in Japan. Apparently it really does sound rather great, especially for rhythm playing as you'd expect. Does make me wonder why we stick so vehemently to the three usual pickup positions.  Personally I think a reverse-angled pickup right between the usual middle and bridge positions would sound pretty good.

That's wierd that you mentioned that, but I have a Duncan Vintage Rails in the middle position.  The active staggers are higher up the neck for the high strings and lower down for the low three. Not a true angle, but I found the middle is a good place for the pickup.  I always wondered why they didn't stagger it the other way.

I wish I could find it but someone did a article with the string viabration and wave forms for pickups in all 3 positions and it was some very interesting data about how we think of the normal bridge neck pickup placements and the effect of strings on the pickups.

I like that on most guitars, playing at the highest fret or two will make the neck pickup sound more like a bridge pickup than the bridge pickup will :p

I don't even play bass but I keep thinking I should make one just because they get so many pretty necks turning up in the showcase.
