Ace Flibble said:That "sweet spot" placement is something ESP have done a few times. Custom orders only of course, and only in Japan. Apparently it really does sound rather great, especially for rhythm playing as you'd expect. Does make me wonder why we stick so vehemently to the three usual pickup positions. Personally I think a reverse-angled pickup right between the usual middle and bridge positions would sound pretty good.
Most tone issues can be corrected with the right pickups.dNA said:Ace Flibble said:That "sweet spot" placement is something ESP have done a few times. Custom orders only of course, and only in Japan. I've been wondering about that myself. I've always felt like bridge pickups are too midrangey. I often just find the change from neck to bridge pickup is actually slightly more drastic than I would like. I've thought about the possibility of a two pickup guitar where the pickups are just slightly closer together than the average set on a Gibson. The bridge pup would be a hair fuller and the neck pickup might be a little bit tighter.
Agreed... :icon_thumright:Death by Uberschall said:Most tone issues can be corrected with the right pickups.dNA said:Ace Flibble said:That "sweet spot" placement is something ESP have done a few times. Curse you warmoth. Curse you Michael McLoughlin. Curse you.
I have to agree, was wondering if that was a compensated bridge but it is so smallswarfrat said:Do you think you could get a closeup of that tele? it's kind of hard to get a feel for it because its so tiny in that picture.

You have to look at this in context - most folks on the forum enjoy their wood porn. Swamp Ash is to "the girl next door" as Flame Maple is to "Victoria Secret model"
