GAS Alert!!!!

That "sweet spot" placement is something ESP have done a few times. Custom orders only of course, and only in Japan. Apparently it really does sound rather great, especially for rhythm playing as you'd expect. Does make me wonder why we stick so vehemently to the three usual pickup positions.  Personally I think a reverse-angled pickup right between the usual middle and bridge positions would sound pretty good.

I've been wondering about that myself. I've always felt like bridge pickups are too midrangey. I often just find the change from neck to bridge pickup is actually slightly more drastic than I would like. I've thought about the possibility of a two pickup guitar where the pickups are just slightly closer together than the average set on a Gibson. The bridge pup would be a hair fuller and the neck pickup might be a little bit tighter.

Sometimes GAS is fiendishly simple.

Most tone issues can be corrected with the right pickups.

Or boring, depending upon your point of view?

Do you think you could get a closeup of that tele? it's kind of hard to get a feel for it because its so tiny in that picture.

There's no gas for that thing. Just a shart. That was ugly. You should have warned us first.

Sorry bout the size- posted from my phone, copy paste from the gallery.

Seriously? You're not in the least interested by the elegant simplicity? I like it a lot.

I thought it looked nice.  I'm considering a plain swamp ash body for my next Gecko build.

You have to look at this in context - most folks on the forum enjoy their wood porn.  Swamp Ash is to "the girl next door" as Flame Maple is to "Victoria Secret model"

Well put.  I  happen to like the black-guard natural ash Tele.

I really like the look, but I've seen dozens of those before. That look is a real favorite over on the TDPRI boards. And it won't get a ton of love on this forum because everybody here loves their exotic woods and burst finishes. The GOTM contests really reflects that most of the time I think.
