Reminds me of a buddy's guitar, which he had custom made from scratch...

Gizmo_04.jpg

Over time, he collected up chunks of interesting wood and once he thought he had enough, took it all to a local luthier along with a drawing and some instructions/wishes. All told, it took that guy a couple years to build it. It's not obvious from the picture, but that neck is 9 layers wide and comprised of curly maple, ebony and purpleheart. The rays on the back are inlaid walnut. The pickup rings I think are also purpleheart, surrounding some kind of active EMG pickups. The body is solid curly; that's not just a top. The "Gizmo" character is inlaid wood intarsia, and he's juggling "Linde Stars", which are a type of artificial sapphire.

This is kinda cool, the dark tele shape on the upper portion is actually an F-hole, if you will...Kinda unique...

Dangerous, I am thinking a Archtop style tail piece with a Archtop TOM
would look really good with that sound hole and give it a real jazz meats tele look.
you may need to angle the neck to get that to work, but it would be sooooooooooooooo kewl and different. real tasty
Yes, most definitely a trapeze tailpiece would be in order, but not an arch top. They make tailpieces for flat tops too. :icon_thumright:
I actually was referring to the style, that F hole so calls out for that classic Jazz look.
I have just ordered my Tele body last weekend, that would have stopped me.
It is a must do I think, If you do not, I may next year.
The maker of the guitar is on the project guitar forum, he does some of the craziest builds.

Not that I know of, but his username there is the same as his ebay name, you could try to join and private message him there.

me too! some of the coolest creations seem to come out of the charvel and jackson custom shops.

Agreed! Like this one, kind of in the same theme as that one. Sorry I dont know how to link pictures only.

More of that annoying autocensor:  it's changing a naughty word for the female genitalia into "twit."  As in swee TWA Ter.

Also, $3499 for the dinky charvel in the link?  YHGTFKM (you have got to be f&*king kidding me).

I mean, it's purty and all, but gimme a break!  This is why Warmoth exists - to counteract such lunacy:

I have to admit, it has been a while since a production guitar made me drool
but its true, you can make that for a lot less with W parts.. except for the 2 piece flame maple body maybe

oh and W does not do maple on Rosewood necks.

RIght right I would never buy that thing, but im just giving Charvel points for getting that custom. Normally a company puts a different colored pick guard or different pickups in it and calls it "custom" and slaps the 3.5k price tag on it.

it is, though I seriously want to see that guitar with a black/green/yellow burst.

oh, ok. that's cool. I thought you were talking a solid color.  :help:. Bust is cool. I'm a big sucker for burst, actually.  :eek:ccasion14:

I was talking a solid color, I was joking.

I personally don't like Spalts... so I'd rather see solid colors... just my taste. not a right or wrong thing.

but yeah, that spalt would look wicked bursted.

Charvel does make some killer custom shop stuff, but nowhere near worth wat they are asking for them..You're just paying for the Charvel name and the word "custom shop"... :dontknow:

The only reason they intrigue me is I had a similar idea floating in my head about doing a soloist in walnut and canary, long before I'd seen any of the Charvel's... :icon_biggrin:
