I know what you mean about the pau ferro. I've got a serious urge to get a pau ferro neck, but I'm having a helluva time justifying it. I've got a practically new Carvin neck that's ebony over maple that really needs to be used for something. Damn thing's just sitting there rotting, but it's got regular old jumbo frets on it and I'm afraid I've turned into a stainless steel snob. Gotta have those or gold, or I'm not going to be happy.

I feel like if you're gonna go for a pau ferro top, go for the pau ferro board too. maybe on a rosewood neck - you'd have a rich chocolatey creation that would look awesome with gold hardware.

and I also ordered a purpleheart neck with an ebony board, in my favorite contour: fatback, 25.5'', 1 3/4 inch wide. the wenge neck I have, will go on this one, and this purpleheart one will go on my purplemist burst me like!
