why is that bad? you dont actually have to put the pickguard on a warmoth tele, just get a pickup ring. the control plate doesn't cover that much wood and a little chrome would look good on that body

True, but if there isn't a pickguard, there will be a gap between the fretboard and the body, and I'm not too fond of that.

back before the 720 mod was an option all warmoth bodies were like that. it's just a matter of making a router fixture with the proper taper and deepening the pocket with a slight angle, it is somewhere close to 1 deg but it's been a long time since i did that.

When I see the fretboard gap i instantly think of violins and cellos. No one seems to be bothered about it there.  :dontknow:

Quite huge gaps too.

I just can't see why we bother with 2 mm gaps when violin/cello players don't give a rats ass about gaps 200x the size  :dontknow:
