Putty and paint would be a helluva waste of a piece of quilt like that.
I've got an L5S that I started on in another thread you may have seen that I'm going to bind, and I'm going to have to fill a lotta holes on that one. It's as perforated as this LP. But, since it's just Mahogany, I'm gonna use dowel and epoxy to fill the holes, then grain filler to level it out, then paint it. Even that I'm apprehensive about. I have a feeling that leveling it out so the repairs are invisible is going to be a cast iron bitch. But, if it works out, it'll be nice.

Yeah tell me about it. As I'm just finishing up my LP that I picked up off the showcase with a similar number of holes, I can't say I'll ever pick up a showcase body with more holes than I want again. I'm putting knobs on that I don't want, put a bridge on that wasn't what I wanted... but it *is* oh so pretty.
