GAS Alert!!!!

I'm glad some people liked it becase it was a major pain to dye and I may not ever do it again. I was thinking that if I had a 5A flame neck I could make something unreal but if I screw it up there goes a majorly expensive piece of wood. I may do another one in the future but most likely it not have a flame maple fingerboard. I guess I'll stick my neck out a little further and ask what colors you guys would recommend if I ever try this again. Who knows it may inspire me.

Washed Blue, or maybe a red dye...

I think washed blue would be awesome to see.. but I don't know if it would sell honestly..
I think the natural-er colors would have a better chance of moving off the shelf.

My 2 euros.  :icon_jokercolor:

I think the same color would look good, but perhaps washed out a little more so it's not quite so intense - just enough to exaggerate the figure.

Another idea would be to dye the 'board a color such as red to exaggerate the figure, then paint the neck meat a matching opaque like Fiesta Red that you could paint a body with as well. Vintage pearl pickguard, gold hardware... mmmmm.

Pau Ferro/Pau Ferro strat W pro neck : http://www.warmoth.com/Showcase/ShowcaseNeck.aspx?i=SN8311&Body=1&Path=Neck

Would that neck be brighter than an all maple one ?

That's one sweet looking Pau Ferro neck... If I was going for a strat headstock on my guitar I would have picked that up.

Geez! It's taking every scrap of my self-control to avoid that Pau Ferro neck. I want it! Too bad they don't have layaway plans.

"layaway plans", sorry I don't think I understand that (belgian guy here...). Do you mean you can't buy it ?

[EDIT]
ok, I see what you mean : you would like W to keep it for you and buy it when you have enough money, right ?
[/EDIT]

Actually I would like to buy it...That's a nice neck, well to my eyes at least...

that, to me, is the prettiest guitar neck I have ever seen

oooh yess, can help stearing at it...I just feel like licking it...like it was a sweet warm chocolate ice cream, yummmmmyyy !!!!

Now, seriously, I would put that beauty on a (recently bought a F ame std strat hss) and hope this might give it a nice sound.
I think that should be better than an all F maple neck but for what kind of sound ? Better for rythmic pattterns or solo's ?

I'm rather a rhytmic guitarist. No very good at solo's...Welll, sometimes...

What do you think ?

it's going to be bright. but all you have to do is pair it up with the right pickups and it'll do more or less anything you want it to. Generally I think brighter guitars are the best for chordal stuff, but that's by no means a limitation to what they can do

That's exactly what I thought...And the amp is to be taken into account as well, so...

...Since there's no layaways plans at W...I should buy it asap...

"Layaway" is a concept some stores here use to allow customers to put some money down on some thing(s), and the store "lays them away" in back out of sight so other customers can't see them. They hold the items there and you make payments on a regular basis. When the item is paid off, you can take it home. You don't see it very often these days, because credit is so easy to get. Years ago, credit cards weren't as common but people still wanted/needed to buy things they couldn't afford right at that moment. Layaway was the solution to that.

I'm sure Warmoth doesn't want to warehouse parts that are only partially paid for, as that not only costs them money, but it eats up capital. They'd have all kinds of money invested in both materials and labor that wasn't returning very fast.

But, they could do a variation on the theme. Limit the time to 30 days, and punish you for failure to launch by making down payments non-refundable. That would keep the bag ladies out, and limit their exposure time-wise.
