Those are just links to the image files Warmoth has to load to run their online catalog. He's not using up any additional space at all. In fact, that uses less space than making an attachment. Linking to another server that holds an image is the preferred way to get images on the forum.
page 254, three large attached files, two identical, not from the catalog.

I don't know where page 254 is, but I do see what you're talking about now. I thought you were talking about the two images loaded a post or two back, but I see it was something else way up the thread.

Is it just me, or does anyone else find bindings like these objectionable?  :dontknow:

Nope your Not alone  :icon_biggrin:

All thou .....
Since I ordered my Custom Alpine White Strat with Black binding,
http://www.unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=19269.0
I then started seeing a few more show up in the showcase ...... Go on blame me  :evil4:

I really like the look of binding on a strat ..... BUT ...
It's gotta be the right colour combo  :icon_thumright:
Some of those in the showcase (to me) are strange combo's  :icon_scratch:

I like Double Binding on a Tele, like these :icon_biggrin:

I like Black Binding on bright solid colour bodies.
I like White Binding on Black bodies.
I don't mind Cream Binding, think thats best with SOME type of woods / stained / finishes.
(But don't like cream pup rings or cream dot inlays) .... go figure !!

If those one's Ddbltrbl posted pic's of, we're with black binding. they would look much better IMO.
Like this .... http://www.warmoth.com/Showcase/ShowcaseItem.aspx?i=LPCP284&Body=2&Path=Body

Any other colour of bindings  :dontknow:  just don't anything for me at all.  :sad1:
(I'm not talking about 'Natural Masked Binding')

Exactly my take on it Updown! FYI I had been thinking for months to do an Alpine White with Black binding like your's, but you beat me to it and did a far better job than I would have. Very nice!! :guitarplayer2:

After finding out my custom order had $600 knocked off it and I wasn't given the chance to buy it at that price, I could give a flying crap about posting etiquette and web space.

Thanks  :icon_thumright:
But .... I gotta tell you that I have a Tele coming kind of similar to your BK one.
It was on the showcase at the same time as yours, you might remember seeing it  :dontknow:
Similar Flame look to it.
But routed differently & will have a Warmoth finish on it, so I'm hoping it'll be nothing like yours.
Thats why I was curious as to the finish you we're using in your build thread.  :icon_biggrin:

If they'd have offered you that deal and word got out, you can bet your last nickel that they'd suddenly have a big uptick in shipping damaged or factory blemished parts. Can't have that.

But it did get out, and that deal was given to someone else.  Even an insurance company offers the chance of a salvage title to the owner of a totaled vehicle before it goes to auction.  On a neck I sent back a few years ago for a warranty issue, they offered a discount to accept as is or build a new one.  Too make $150 bucks and not have a total loss on a damaged body, they pissed off a repeat customer that paid full price.  Their in shop communication was lacking, because even when I called I had to explain what had happened, as my contact had no idea either. But, nice to find out I'm the unreasonable one just being sour.  My apologies to DrewFX, as my frustrations aren't directed at him.  He got a great deal and my drama for free.

No, word didn't get out because you didn't get the offer. That's what I'm talking about. If you'd been offered $600 off because they were going to fire sale it otherwise, then the lesson I'd learn when I heard about it would be to whack the next body I buy with a hammer when it gets here, blame it on poor packaging or handling, and get 75% of my money back. But, what actually took place was they salvaged the body by selling it as a blem and made you a new one like you ordered. The word that got out was that they build 1st class parts and stand behind them, and that they sell the blems cheap. Could you not have bought the thing off the showcase when it showed up deeply discounted, the same way Drew did?

Don't get me wrong - I understand your frustration. I'd feel the same way. But, I can also see where they're coming from. People are naturally opportunistic, so you gotta nip it in the bud.

Cagey, I'm not going to sit and watch the RSS feed 24 hours a day hoping to buy back my damaged body at a discount, especially if I never got any indication it was going to be there.  It was my order.  I should have had the first chance at it at that price.  That precedent has already been set by them in the past regarding repairs, refunds, and rework.  I was told it was unrepairable, as was Rob.  He thought that meant it was headed to the bandsaw.  He had a few words with his coworkers.

Yeah, that doesn't make any sense. Oh, well. I guess we're all learning things.

Chrome pickguard?  Going for a John 5 look?

I'm a big fan of the double-bound Telecaster look - pure class.

What I'm saying here is, yes, definitely someone from this here forum should pick up that black body.

Actually I had a Tele with that look before John 5 got around to it:

Based on a Fender MIJ JD telecaster. Sadly I sold it off because I didn't like the neck. (It was before my acquaintance with Warmoth).

Later on I did have the Fender John 5 Triple Telecaster:

Really fierce sounding - but also ridiculous heavy - so I sold that off as well.

But I'm still playing with the thought of making another chrome-ish telecaster.

Awesome Tele Bagman! :eek:ccasion14:
What neck pickup did you use? And would you do it the same next time?

Thanks, man!  I love that Telecaster.  Neck pup is a Guitar Fetish Dream 90.  And yes, I'd use it again - it's very handy.

I really love this guitar.  If I ever build another I'd be torn because I'd want this but would not want to be a copycat.  Just a classic beauty.
