GAS Alert!!!!

We have a similar radio at my house, but I don't think it works. Maybe it could be made to work...

Also, you guys just reminded me I have a friend who is good friends with Fred Gretsch, and said she'd be more than happy to arrange a visit sometime. Darnit. Now I want Gretsch-inspired stuff again.

Well, appears as tho someone couldn't resist... :dontknow:

This is nearly the opposite of GAS for me.
Either it's a cancelled order or a mistake.
Basswood, battery box, SHH (huh?) recessed OFR.

I've seen a few weird things like that pop up recently. Usually I deride Warmoth for stacking the Showcase with countless items all fo the same boring spec, but over the last month or two there's been a lot of weird combinations appearing. There's an all-rosewood, narrow nut, 3-bolt Telecaster neck with star inlays that looks gorgeous to me, but I can't imagine it's going to shift any time soon. I'm guessing a lot of people placed orders over the Christmas period and then cancelled.

What weirds me out is how the neck pickup and the OFR seem to have been done after the paint job, while the bridge and middle were done before. Did someone order a body with a bridge and middle, but not a neck pickup route? What's up with the bridge route?

I'd guess it was a Showcase "H-H-X/any tremolo" order that got canceled.

Maybe the SHH config is for a Fernandes Sustainer  :dontknow:

That body has not been in the showcase before  :icon_biggrin:

yeah this is a strange one. the color is unappealing, and it is like it was a showcase body that had a xhh route, then was ordered wth an ofr and single but later canceled. i guess they could have done the middle pup route if there was a big knot there but why not make it a traditional hhh? especially for the guy who ordered it? and a floyd on a firebird? i almost feel like offering them $50 for it and putting my discarded parts laying around in it just to smash it on stage. but if i did that it would probably sound or play too good and id have to keep it. sometimes those ugly bastard parts guitars wind up being your favorites and you dont need to worry about beating it up.

btw i just looked in the showcase after over a year and i gotta say ive got serious gas for too many parts to list, i wish i had money to throw away. that la carbonita with the white korina is too beautiful and the flame maple top strat with the black pinstripe binding in the screamin deals for $200 because of a "flaw" in the upper cutaway cant be beat price wise. and there are so many more.
