Doug ... you should get a commission from the big W ?  .... mock-up seem to of worked  :laughing7:

Ddbltrbl ... now thats some wood porn !!
Nice score, use a Scartozi bridge (like in Dougs pic) :toothy10:
Bet the dear wife was out, when that occurred .  :toothy11:
Yeah, I don't think Doug is my wife's favorite person right now!  :laughing7:
She'll get over it.  :evil4:
I love the way that Scartozi Bridge looks too, but not sure what I would do for the bridge pickup in that case.  :dontknow:
Whatever I do, I think wood parn this nice probably needs a simple, subtle approach.

not as awe inspiring as a lot of the stuff that gets posted on here but this is the one that got my attention- and will soon become Warmoth # 4 (ordered this weekend):

walnut strat by steve.bynum, on Flickr

Going to pair it with a conversion Jackson styled Rosewood over Maple that I got for Christmas and has been needing a body. Didn't order any control routing beyond the switch as I haven't made up my mind on whether I will go no controls except the switch (amps have them anyway), switch and master volume, or switch with master volume and master tone..... even if I decide to go master volume and master tone I still would rather pick where I want the controls that take the standard strat positions. Pickups will be Dimarzio X2n and D Activator X (Neck)..... if I don't like how the X2n pairs with the D Activator X then I can always sub in a D Activator X (Bridge) from another guitar (single bridge pickup only) and put the X2n in it; bridge will be recessed Wilkinson. Planning on a Tru-Oil finish so will likely be a while before it is finished or shows up in the work in progress section.

I've not had an X2N, but I do have 2 D Activators in my walnut Krank N Stein, and they sound awesome. Probably one of the more raunchier guitars I have. :headbang1:

Just saw this on Ebay for $15000.  Kind of a cool guitar.  Mix of Gretsch and Fender!  Built by Fender called a "Gretschacaster". Give anyone any ideas???

Some ideas, indeed.  Like, por ejemplo ...  building something similar for a tenth of the cost with Warmoth bits and pieces.

We said the same when they made the white and the green (Bono sig?) versions  :icon_biggrin:

Kind of surprised they are allowed to even call it that.

It is a pretty sweet guitar though. I am still trying to figure out a way to get a carved top tele without the girlfriend knowing :laughing7:

Fender Musical Instrument Corp. bought Gretsch, so they can call it whatever they want.  Yay for consolidation!  Meet the new boss, same as the old boss!

Kind of had me wondering if Warmoth could do a carved top AND BACK?  Could be an interesting build!  Chambered of course.

I'm so glad Warmoth started putting the woods in facing the the right way, these little patterns that develop look so much better on top instead of being hidden on the backside.
