Been jonesin hard for a big body acoustic lately. An acoustic guitar capable of tearing your face off.

Dammit, don't show me these things, or I won't be able to stop myself.

My mother had a Guild, and it was one sweet looking and sounding guitar. She gave it to one of her best friends before she died and I was really miffed, but now I realize how one can feel about an axe and I honestly can say if I knew the end was coming up as she did, I would probably pass out a few things to my friends also.

Yeah, if you've never played a jumbo... You have to try it. On second thought, no.  Do or do not, there is no try... Not with these babies.  Smack that thing and HARD!!
Seriously, I just love the physical impact and authority they have.  I had a mid line pre-fender JF-4N in college that I sorely miss. One of my first introductions to a guitar that made me notice was a lady that had a Guild 12 string. I still love 12's, just don't know if I want my only acoustic to be a 12. (Currently do not have an acoustic at all.)

I do think a Jumbo would kick some arse.  Now that would be great playing outside at a campfire.  The only thing I would hate about a 12 string is changing the strings.  That Jumbo gave me the fever, but I liked the antique tint one too, I pictured the wrong one before.

This one's not mine (have to get back around to photographing my collection some day), but I have one of these JF30-12's:

I keep it tuned down a whole step and it sounds unbelievably full and HUGE.

Hey, AGWAN, you may want to check out the Squier series of the 51. It was out a long time ago, and it's what  caused fender to make their own line here.

The black and white version of the Squier was called the Bullet. It was my first electric in 1982 given to me by my parents as a Christmas gift. It played great and had that classic clear, chimey Fender tone. If they come out with a black one with a white pearloid pickguard and a maple/maple neck, I'm in.

Even better, if the big W can see their way clear to do the parts, I'd build one.

I have only played a 12 string once way back, and I though it was a tad awkward to play.  Chording and rhythm are beyond excellent, but playing controlled arpeggios and leads was like playing a 6 string with trip wire.  Possibly I could give it another try and get used to it.

Everyone thinks of 12s as some pretty jingle jangle guitar, which I'd does very well thank you. But they can also make for some wicked huge on the edge to moderate gain distorted tones - its like having a built in octave doubler!

The hardest thing for me on leads is the octave G. (That and no vibrato or bends, not even a little bit!)

Here's how to get it done:

Vibrato bridge? I feel like a 12 with a modified Bigsby would be soooo epic  :guitaristgif:

Hmm... I could've sworn I've seen them on there before. Maybe it was an end of stock thing.  :icon_scratch:

Yeah it was a "we have some and are selling them then thats it" kind of thing. I went through KNE to get my body for my '51 clone because Warmoth doesn't do the angle neck pickup. Of course I'm doing a rear routed version, otherwise it wouldn't really matter. You could just do it yourself, even if you were sloppy it gets covered by a PG.
