Floyd Rose w/o Locking Nut - anybody do this?

I have no doubt that you can still buy the stuff, and I'm not surprised components and supplies (read: strings) are still available - nobody's been buying it up. But, it has been discontinued. You'll be buying NOS if you choose to go that route. Nobody else is going to take up the reins because the design never took off in the first place, for obvious reasons. So, do what you want, but don't say you weren't warned.

It will depend on where you are. If you're dedicated to playing in your living room for the rest of your life and your internet connection is just a step away, you may be able to find the strings you need at least until you decide to throw it over, get a trucker wallet, slouch hat and relic'd strat because the blues is in in yo so-oo-oul.... Apparently the internet will always be with us, but I remember trying to find tubes - ANY tubes - to fit my consumptive Marshall head back in the dark '90s, this was before the Russians spooled up to speed. Running out of the things you (think you) need is a pain in the ass - I think that's when I bought a Roland JC-120, which took some adjustment, coming on the heels of THE Jeff Beck/Duane Allman Marshall 50w no-master head... just plug in a Tube Screamer. Right. I wouldn't want to be tied to a specific string brand, especially when you can only buy sets. Break three or four high E's in a row.... :icon_tongue: :icon_tongue: :icon_tongue:
