Aloha, all.

I'm finally moving forward on this flat-top Les Paul body.  Picked it up in the Thanksgiving sale last year, and it sat around for a few months before I got around to sealing it - and has then sat around again until I got down to business filling the grain this weekend.

Here it is in the Warmoth showcase photo, shown wet:

Here it is dry, with the neck mocked up:

With the shellac sealer, before sanding, before grainfill:

Wow that looks incredible, wish I had picked that up when I saw it!

Thanks for the kind words.

I had a serious bout of GAS over that body myself - and when it came down to 253 bucks during the Thanksgiving sale, my resistance just crumbled.

Stoopid Hawaiian wood is dumb. Your collection of random sexy guitars is dumb. GOTM is dumb. PRS pickups are dumb. I hope you get a splinter or something. :icon_jokercolor:

On second thought don't. You will probably post a pic and I'll get jealous of your splinter too. :occasion14:

Thank you for selling me your dumb pickups!

If I get the splinter, I'll send it to you gratis.  But don't tell Cagey - he'll be jealous.

Nah, I'm good. I have a Koa neck, too. Jet black Ebony 'board, gold 6100s, Schaller mini-lockers, Graphtech Earvana nut. That's what's on the Wild Maple Tiger finished Strat I show off here every once in a while.

Nice.  I don't believe I've ever seen the Wild Maple Tiger full-length, and certainly not from the rear.  I remain jealous of your having scored that body, but Quty Pie and Bête Noire do take the edge off the pain.

Not sure I have a full-length shot. Not finding it, anyway. But, here are shots of the headstock and center rear...

It's not clear from the picture, but that brown is actually transparent so you can see the Swamp Ash grain through it.

Thanks. It's a helluva fiddle. But, I rarely play it. It sounds good, plays like a dream and looks like a million bucks, but it's not magical. At least, not to my ear. I leave it out so people will oooh and aaah, but it basically just sits in the stand. The Teles get all my attention these days.

Grain fill's done.  I packed the various holes with paper towel to keep them from filling with gunk.  I filled with neutral Timbermate colored with Mixol black universal tint.  It took two passes to satisfy myself that I won't wind up with acne scars on my guitar.

I wiped it off with naptha and it really came to life, but it flashed off too fast for me to get a good photo.  Y'all are just gonna have to wait.

That's going to be a very attractive guitar!

The deck? Not so much.

Old lady's gonna be on your ass for finishing guitars when you aren't finishing the home of your children.

Agreed as to the guitar.  The "deck" is actually a very cheapo bench we got from a neighbor when they moved, and it's no great loss that the finish is frazzed.  And the great thing about this old lady, particularly when compared to her most significant predecessor in that role, is that there's precious little that she sees as worthwhile to get on my ass about.  And if she's on my ass, it's generally about something more important than whether my chores are done.  Yep, she's a keeper.
