Last month, I met an alder Tele body with a grain that instantly sold me. So… I pulled the trigger and decided to build a vintage-leaning Telecaster.
Vintage Tele® Replacement Body
Alder
One Piece
Right-Handed
Vintage Telecaster®
No Paint
Telecaster® Replacement Guitar Neck
Vintage/Modern
Quartersawn Maple (One-piece)
1-11/16" (43mm) - Modern Medium
Boatneck
Straight 9.5"
21 Frets
Vintage Style (11/32")
Standard Dots
Standard Nut - White Corian
No Finish
To match the vibe, I also ordered a quartersawn neck. The parts should be arriving soon, so I’m starting early—spent the last 4 days dialing in the butterscotch feel by mixing nitrocellulose.
After a few days of testing, I’m pretty set on a vintage tint look for the neck, and semi-transparent finish to show the grain. I’m still deciding between only a butterscotch coat, or doing a white base first and then blending a yellow layer on top like the vintage 51 or 52.
Updates coming once the package lands.
