If any of you have considered getting more serious about finishing your bodies/necks, Woodcraft has dropped the price of the Earlex HV5500 to $299 and includes an extra finish needle.
I've used this unit to do a number of bodies/necks, and it works great. Fine finish, very easy to clean, small, lightweight, easy to store... what's not to love? Beats having to buy a compressor large enough to deliver that much air, along with all the peripheral equipment you'd need. This one is pretty much plug 'n' play. I've only shot lacquer with it, but it's supposed to be good for a lotta things.
If you do buy into it, I'd see if they'll trade the free 1.5mm needle for a 1.0mm part. 1.5 would probably be way too much for lacquer. Even with the 1.0mm, you have to watch you don't hose the the body down. The 2.0mm it comes with in the box is more for latex, enamel, tar, mayonnaise and thicker things of that nature.
