The W has never said anything one way or another about this but I am pretty sure if this was done weekly or monthly they would frown upon it.

...but then it wouldn't be as special.

I think the winner would feel special about it, regardless of frequency.  :)

I know that I would certainly feel special...

then we do it somewhere else...

This is doable...
I would certainly be willing to take a gamble, ah, I mean make a donation more than once a year.
After all, I am a generous sort...

Really?  We end up buying products from them, why would they care?

I know they hate selling guitars.  :laughing7:

And I stated above, bi-monthly, quarterly would be great.  :icon_thumright:

I would definately be willing to donate on a quartely basis...

I'm totally about it being annualy... it would lost the "cool thing" being monthly and not everybody would have money to do it monthly...

If we hit 200 tickets sold before the Feb 2th will we roll the dice before this date?

If it's more frequent than once a year I'd start skipping. It can be more frequent than W anniversary sales, but it should still be a memorable event.

Quarterly would be perfect.

If you can't swing $10 every three months for a ticket, how can you justify Spending $50 a year? Not pointing anybody out, just making a point.

It's not the money, it's the thrill of the ride. Look at the participant list, this is a community event. Do it every three months and people will start skiping, not because of the principle but because they're bored, and it just won't be the same.

If it happens monthly or quarterly, less people would be willing to go along with it every time. In turn this means less money for the guitar and less options. If it's held annually more people are likely to contribute. I think it would be better to have one amazing guitar than a few decent ones.

I like the thrill of anual. For me it really isn't about winning as much as it is the excitment and how the whole board gets in on it. We had an annomous $50 donated and another person kicked in $30 for Max....these kind of things definatly wouldn't happen on a more regular basis and is kinda what sets this board apart from others. If it was more often I might join but there is now way I would want to run them more often, it is actuall alot of work to make sure it all runs smooth and keep everyone as happy as possible. It may not seem like it but when you are holding money from many different people you haven't actually met....tides and attitudes can change very quickly.

I agree, but a year is soooo far away.  :laughing7:

Maybe twice a year? I would be willing to handle the mid year raffle if there is interest.

I like the twice a year idea, that's just enough time to get excited when it comes arround again, and enough time to save up $10 for the next ticket.

But lets get this one behind us and see how it goes, before we make any decisions about further fund raisers. ( Of course we can still talk about it, without making a commitment )

We should in the future, consider a portion of the raffle donations to be given to some charity like some kinda childrens cancer fund or whatever, that would make this raffle legit.

There are books out there on how to organize and run a legal raffle, I might buy one and figure out all the legalities

A perfectly legitimate biannual charity raffle sounds like a good idea to me.

Yea, I like that cherity idea.  That would be cool  :headbang1:
It would be nice if it was some kind of charity that did something related to music.
I think there are some out their that get instruments for kids; anything to do with music!!!

Agreed...
Count me in only if it's annual...

I think the charity angle is a great idea.  I wouldn't be interested in something that happens more than twice a year.

There's that musicares charity - I believe they work to help out struggling musicians who don't have health insurance.  There are a bunch of other ones out there such as those which get instruments to underpriviledged kids - that would be a good one for a gear related forum.

Either once or twice a year for me. Maybe one of those times, like has been suggested, we give it to a local kid who can't afford good equipment.
Not me, though. Hey, guys, no more charity for me please. I appreciate it all, but I'm in on my own wallet's expense.  :icon_thumright:
