Awhile ago, while I was trying to figure out what build I wanted to do next, I got inspired by @Rick's Inferno Flake Jazzmaster and decided to riff on some of his ideas. So, I ordered up a Dinkycaster, which I've been wanting an excuse to buy since they came out, in Inferno Flake. I'm going to drop in a couple of TV Jones Classics as I need a Filter'Tron in my collection and for some reason flashy, bling-e guitar and Filter'Tron just go together in my mind.
I had ordered a body with "extra light" roasted Alder, but the body as it arrived is 4lbs 3.4ozs. Hardly what you'd even call light, let alone extra-light. But ya gotta work with the body you have, not the one you wish you had. I'm pivoting from my initial plan of using Tele style controls, and am instead moving to using an oversized pickguard with a Switchcraft switch in the upper horn. Besides saving the weight of the plate, this will allow me to route away some of that extra weight, and the result I think will be even more interesting than my original vision.
So, behold the Inferno'Tron! The beginning of what is my most ambitious build to date.
