As for the rules, I think DMRACO does a great job and I hope that the contest continues with the simplicity DBU summarized back when:

I agree; the rules are fine. And that's a fine fiddle you've put together there. Excellent presentation. Not sure I'd like the pickup switch that far away, but you can get used to anything. I do like the simple control scheme. Whose neck is that? And I don't recognize those tuners - are they the Planet Waves parts?

If it is not too late to enter...

Warmoth Finish VIP body (Mahogany with DL Quilt Maple lam top)
Tonar hand rubbed oil finish Soulmate neck (Curly maple with Wenge stripes)
Gotoh 510 Bridge
SD P-Rails Pickups
Custom DangerousR6 neck plate

The funny thing is, I knew that was a Soulmate neck before I even read the description, just from looking at the thumbnails.
It's weird how that can happen sometimes. OTOH, I suppose Soulmate necks aren't that difficult to identify.

Thanks Cagey - as line6man pointed out it is a Soulmate neck.  The tuners are full-size Grover Roto-Grips.  I like 'em for quick string changes because I am lazy.

As to the switch location, it's actually not bad.  Not that I had much choice, Warmoth put it there!  It doesn't get in the way that's for sure.

Man this was tough, Markeaux, Tubbytwins, and Crackedpepper could've had my vote any other month, but Orcrist's was just too unique.

I don't vote for a bass very often but my votes going for tubby's, looks killer :headbang:!

The model airplane one is alright, I guess. I really like the Red/Maple/Blue cream bound Tele with the cream P90 and no inlays.

Nothing wrong with being a traditionalist/conservative when it comes to your fiddles. A fancy finish is a fine thing, but it's sorta like a Picasso painting - high-priced, and of limited appeal outside of curiosity.

Just voted, and I'm amazed in this field my black strat got a vote! (more than i was expecting!)

tubbytwins & orcrist were hard to decide between.  went to tubbytwins by a hair.

I am not normally into bass, but tubbytwins gecko is a really a beautiful piece.  :glasses9:
Had to give it a vote...

Good luck to everyone that entered &  :rock-on:

You're welcome <grin>

I think it's more about "which one would you take home and play with?" than anything else. There will always be heroic builds, unusual builds, artistic builds, etc., but which one would you like to have if it was a guaranteed-to-win lottery and you got your choice? I mean, a Flying V made out of ebony with a Wenge neck faced with Pau Ferro, stainless steel railroad tie frets, Kinman pickups and Ren & Stimpy embossed on the face would be an awesome fiddle, but would I want it? No. Flying Vs suck, as far as I'm concerned. I just don't like them and never will.

Same holds true for my choices. I like a traditional Strat with modern appointments. But, there are a lot of people who'd take one of my guitars and change it into something else, maybe even firewood. Granted, those are some profoundly retarded people, but... <grin>

+1 on the Flying Vs.
I've always thought they were completely hideous, and of course, they can't be played sitting down without a strap.  :tard:

I don't know if I'd go so far as to call them "hideous", but certainly the words "unattractive" and "impractical", as well as "poorly conceived" apply. It's one of several designs from the late '50s/early '60s including such laughable entries as the Explorer, Moderne and Firebird that Gibson came up with to compete with Fender, who was eating Gibson's lunch in plain view of everyone at the time.

Of course, these days there are a number of pretenders to the throne who will make reproductions of the things, I'm guessing for emotional/historical reasons. But Les Paul and Leo Fender had the right ideas right from the git-go, and outside of mechanical improvements (neither one of them were engineers, after all), very little has changed since.

Flying V's can and are played sitting down. I've owned one for 32 years and still play it often, sitting down. This is how (not me but for demo purposes):

I like them, no, I love them.

I think you're wrong, the world of 50's and 60's weren't ready for the radical shapes of the V and the EXP and the Modern. The Gibson designers were ahead of their time, thinking into the future. Unlike the brain dead designers of today..And I certainly would love to have a V or an Explorer from '58 or '59, but then again you used the words "unattractive" "impractical" and "poorly conceived". Well they're the 2 of the most sought after guitars in the world...

OH, that's how it's done.  They are very popular, but just not my style. :laughing7:
