Dad's 56 B-day guitar (Pics) Now w/ video and SOUND

boy, those things are expensive!! i think I'd rather stick to my well-known bareknucklepickups. PAF's are too silent for me. I want hotrodded pafs, as a minimum! Miracle man's, warpigs, motherbuckers. thats the stuff for me. Great TONE, vibe, good, great harmonics, nice texture, and when I want it to be a bit more bluesy, long live volume+tone! I want a guitar to aim at the highest gain possible. you can always dial gain OUT, not in.

Yeah they were expensive but they do sound nice. The "crunch" on them is good and the bluesy tones are incredible. My dad is mostly a Jazz/ Blues fusion player and they are perfect for what he is doing. Definatly wouldn't classify as a hot pick-up by any means. I think they are in the 6-8k range. Well made and worth the money for what I am doing with them though.

He loved the tone so much of the SG though that he made the comment he wished he had a strat with humbuckers that sounded like an SG....I think he is gonna die over this one.

Kudos!  didn't realize how perfect you made this.  It's EXACTLY what he's looking for!!  :icon_thumright:

After your dad get's over the elations of joy getting such an awesome guitar, he's gonna be piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiissed cause you had it all this time and he could have been laying down some heavy blues riffs........ :laughing11:

Yeeeeaaaaahhhh.........You are such a terrible son.  How could you do such a thing to your loving father?  :dontknow:
I cant imagine how pissed off I'd be if my son put so much time, effort, thought and love into building me an amazign guitar that is exactly what I wanted and more.

You are heartless ! ! !

Just messing.  I think it's great...... :headbang:

only 1 month to go...July 12th is when he gets it and I will be posting a video for all that have followed this thread.

If I'm reading that neck plate right, shouldn't you give it to him on July 15?  :dontknow:

You are right but the 12th is a saturday and as hard as it is to wait that long I didn't want to wait another few days to give it to him the weekend following his birthday,

Well it looks killer.  I wish I were 56!  (No I don't.)  That's really cool that you gig with your dad!  What kind of music do you guys play?

My dad plays mostly blues. I used to play when I was 13-16 and put it down for many years. I just recently picked it up again so I use the word "we gigged" loosly. I can lay down some simple rythyms for him to jam over. I have been working on it and would love for the day we can have a serious jam session.

That's pretty freaking cool Ken, my dad couldn't carry a tune if I gave it to him in a front loader....So we just ride motorcycles together....

That's pretty cool.  I don't do anything with my dad, he works like 80 hours a week and he lives 600 miles away.

When I started playing guitar he said "You know, I used to play bass in college."  I said, "Really?" and my mom says to him, "What?  You only played a few times and you couldn't carry a tune."  It was hilarious.  :D  Apparently his dad was something of a prodigy with stringed instruments but unfortunately neither of us inherited that.
