I hope it is the correct section (if not, forgive me)

Strat maple neck w/ clear satin nitro
If I "cut" (shape) headstock like a suhr, I'll have any problems with finish and color?

I tried with a pauferro neck: very easy, of course  ^_- (raw neck!!!)

Hi, Bruno -

If you cut an unfinished neck, just sand the newly shaped wood to 220 grit and proceed with your plans to finish it.

Good to see you back on the board!  We haven't heard much from you in a while.

Peace

I don't understand. It's past noon out where he lives. He should be well into the beer supply by now, which normally keeps you from making rookie mistakes like that until about 3am. Maybe the rugrats are pestering him.

Ah, yes, sorry, missed the part about the neck already being finished.

Never mind.  I'll have to think harder next time...

Actually, Cagey, I'm being pestered by the lawyers to whom I am a vendor of technology services. If it were rugrats, I wouldn't be here - I'd be playing with them.  Nothing personal, but I like my rugrats better than I like you people.

So anyway, I reckon you can finish the newly exposed edge without refinishing the entire neck, but matching the color and sheen might be a difficult thing to do.  If it's currently finished in lacquer, stripping and refinishing the whole thing is comparatively easy.

But if it's poly, forget it, get a new, raw neck; then cut to desired shape (or pay Warmoth to do it), and finish to taste.

Better yet, go with one of the lovely tropical hardwoods, no finish required.

Thanks for "welcome back"!
I'm touched that someone remembers me, really.
Thanks again :-)

The neck in object it's a new brand strat Warmoth neck with clear satin nitro

For clear nitro, color matching might not be a problem, but matching the sheen (satin instead of gloss) might be difficult.  I'll defer to the local finishing experts, but it's more work than I'd be willing to undertake myself.  I'm lazy that way.
