Me too. I'm still working on it.

The work is fun, the drying time is real rough though.

I'll try to post update pics on the thread I started in Work in progress

Dangerous has treated me well.  But this plate I am looking for some additional detail.  Here is my latest...it will be done in gold...I will post some photos when complete...

I am not a Led Zeppelin fan, but that's an awesome neckplate!

This is my first post on this great forum.  The reason are these great neck plates!  I was wondering if these plates are made of steel or another material?  The reason I ask is do you have any issues with rust over time due to the finish (or plateing) being machined away?  Please forgive the ignorance!

Thanks for any info...

Welcome matthew, the plates are made of mild steel then coated. The plates I use are plates that are available on Warmoths website. And yes the area that has been machined away will rust if left intreted. They can be treated in a number of ways to prevent this from happening. Like covering with clear laquer, or clear fingernail polish, or even epoxy. Or the machined area can even be painted if one so chooses.

I really wouldn't worry about rust. The guitar is going to stay dry and probably (or should) be wiped off at the end of each set or playing session. If you've touched the plate wipe it off also.

Agree totally...Dougs are AWESOME and can been seen from a mile a way.  The contrast is great.  Kind of ticks me off a bit.  I spend 100's of hours building the guitar and the thing that gets the most comments are Dougs nameplates.... :laughing3: :laughing11: :laughing7:

This one from FSR will have more detail that Dougs method cannot do, but will not have the visual impact of an ingraved plate..  I am using this because I am not using my standard black, the color I personally feel works best with Doug.  This one will be gold so I figured I will take agvantage of this etching that FSR can do.  I might add he is just as easy to work with as Doug.  It certainly is good to have high quality folks around.
