we should start a "bridge of doom" thread and do some brainstorming. Certain qualities are a must. Locking down the saddles seems to work wonders, at least on the wilkies. Floyds lock the strings down, but is that necessary? how about roller saddles? Then there's the main culprit: the fulcrum. What to do? Boogie Rails has a fairly simple (if a bit hefty) approach, Wilkies use more of a fine knife edge, the BladeRunner is a new interesting one. (six-screws are out, obviously. total crap.) I've always wondered why no one has tried simply using a freaking hinge! A high precision hinge (you could even use bearings!) is a beautiful thing. OF course, it's worthless if it doesn't fit in a standard strat rout (at least in back.), but now I'm rambling . . . anywho, I'd be perfectly interested in helping design a good trem.
