Custom build ordered

I guess I am hooked...

After 2 tele builds that I am really pleased with, I've ordered a custom build.  I think the teles came out looking good, plus they play and sound wonderful. It's very satisfying to play a guitar that I put together, so each one gets a lot of play time.

I have now ordered a custom body and neck to build a LP type of instrument.

Custom body:
Chambered Regal
Quilted Maple on roasted Swamp Ash
P90 neck and bridge route
Honey burst
Tortoise binding
2 volume, 2 tone controls
Stop tail piece

Custom neck:
Gibson scale
Roasted flame Maple neck
Ebony fingerboard
59 roundback profile
Stainless jumbo frets
White pearloid trapazoid inlays

I am an older retired guy, so the traditional guitars have a lot of appeal for me.  Now, I just have to wait the 8 - 10 weeks for it to ship.

I actually ordered a body and neck in that exact wood combination, although another body shape, color and scale length. And it's not chambered.

I'm hoping the tortoise binding will be a nice transition from the roasted swamp ash to the honey burst.

I'm curious about the honey burst/tortoise bound combination, too. Looking forward to seeing that. Ebony fretboard is a good choice to go with it. That's gonna be a sweet fiddle, I'm sure!

If you haven't seen it yet, you may want to read through the thread on burnishing raw necks. Roasted Maple responds especially well to it, even more so if it's figured like yours will be.

It's shipped, but I wanted Cagey to do his magic on the neck, so he's got the neck and body at the moment. So it'll be another couple of weeks before I recieve it.
But he's sent me pictures of it and it looks absolutely amazing. I ordered it with the color Amber Dye.
And since the shape is a Mustang it hasn't got any bindning (or chambering).

I spotted the burnishing post a while back and did my 2 teles with great results.  Will definitely burnish the neck on this  build when I receive it.  Thanks!

Quilted Maple over Roasted Swamp Ash​

Swamp Ash changes color pretty dramatically even when just clear coated, so it should be noted that the rear body finish on this part is transparent amber. The face is called out as amber dye, but it looks like they burst it a bit at the edges with something (brown? red?) to obscure the transition from the quilted Maple to the Ash. Very attractive, whatever they did. This body looks even better real life.

That transparent amber is every bit as beautiful as transparent red on RSA. Gorgeous!

Yes, it is. And nice and light, considering the material. Maple and Swamp Ash should be heavy, but being a Mustang body (and roasted) it comes in at 3.5 pounds, with the Ebony/Maple neck at 1.25, for a total of 4.75 pounds without hardware/electronics. I'm guessing this baby is gonna come in at around 7 pounds all up, which is pretty comfy.

There's still some discussion as to whether it'll need pickups, strings, etc. Seems like a lotta expensive clutter, but...  :laughing7:
