Change of plans

Hope all y'all are having a blessed weekend! I've had a change of plans for my build. I was gonna do an oil/dye finish all around but thought if I'm gonna be gigging with this, it should be something more stable. I'm torn between satin candy turquoise and candy blue finish and maple roasted neck with ebony fretboard. Anybody got pics of those two finishes? Gonna put a few coats of crimson guitars penetrating oil on the neck, it's like tru oil but slighty differnt. Very excited but gonna have to save up a bit more, being a millenial sucks lol! Anybody have any thoughts on mahogany vs maple vs alder for a strat body? Also, is roasted maple really worth it for durability like warping and stuff?

You might wanna read up on body woods a bit as the difference in tone between a maple . mahogany and alder body can be quite different. It depends on what you wanna hear. I think there are advantages and disadvantages to roasted maple vs std maple for a neck.

True, I think I'm gonna rule out maple, but having both alder and mahogany in the past, I like both, never hadmahogany for single coils though. In your experience do you think it'd be good for a strat?
What are the pros and cons you've dealt with having both roasted and standard maple necks? Gonna be doing heavy touring next year.

This is AWESOME! That's so beautiful! Sold on this!!!!!!! More than likely satin finish but this is insanely gorgeous I can choose either!

Roasted maple doesn't need a finish! That's the main advantage over non-roasted maple. You can of course order a roasted maple neck with a finish, if you prefer the darker color and are willing to pay $55 for that color.

Also be aware, that roasted maple is more brittle and way less forgiving if for example you drill the holes for the tuners too small.

So, I personally like roasted maple as an option for an unfinished maple neck that still has full warranty.

Because: A non-roasted maple neck without a hard finish will have no warranty!

I have 4 Warmoth necks so far, I ordered all of them unfinished, one purpleheart, two roasted maple and one (non-roasted) maple, which I finished myself. I don't know if the finish I applied is meeting Warmoth criteria for a hard finish, but in that case I was willing to take that risk, since it wasn't such an expensive neck.

With my 5th Warmoth neck that's still in the making, walnut shaft, ebony fretboard and a lot more pricey options, like binding and stuff, I would've never taken such a risk.

But, you will have to decide that for yourself!

Lol I'm very forgetfull sorry. That's true, I just need it to handle temperature changes good for hevy touring honestly. Usng hipshot tuners do only drilling will be for string trees. With what you're saying, I think I might get roasted. This is my first time traveling with a guitar so kinda nervous lol

I'm definetly going untraditional with this strat. After hearing Aaron's tests, I loved the resonance of it, but is it really all that heavy as a strat body?

I have 2 roasted maple necks from Warmoth. They look absolutely gorgeous with Tru-Oil applied.
One has an ebony fretboard and the other a pau fero fretboard.
It is also more stable than regular maple. I had to drill only one hole for a relocated neck screw, and it was no problem at all.
Always use screw wax.
